Bob Glover Height: 5'9" Weight: 165 Glover is not only one of the founding fathers of the Hobart Sandlot Football League, but he has also been the league's commissioner for it's entire five year existence. Glover spent the early part of his career dominating the league as a wide receiver. On defense, Glover is not known for his tackling ability, but is a solid coverage player and great kick returner. Although he is one of the all time great receivers, he switched to quarterback for the 2000 season, basically just to prove he could. Glover is not a prototypical quarterback, his critics say he is too small, doesn't put enough arch on his passes and can't throw the ball deep. Glover is quickly beginning to silence his critics however by improving his passing game. As co-captain of Team 1, Glover and his team lived off of their west coast style offense by utilizing their speedy receivers, and distributing the ball to everyone. Glover put on some weight in the off-season as well, without losing any quickness, or agility, which makes him even more difficult to tackle when he scrambles into the open field. He helped lead Team 1 to the Glover Bowl title in 2001, while leading the league in 2 of the 3 major statistical categories. His 48 touchdown passes, and 4 interceptions were both league bests, and he added 7 touchdowns despite playing quarterback all year. Those numbers earned Glover Pro Bowl honors, as well as the Most Valuable Player Award in 2002. Coming off his greatest season ever, many question whether or not Glover can repeat his success. Only time will tell. |
