It was finally here. We were going on our first cruise, The Sovereign of the Seas on the Royal Carribean cruise line. I was so excited. Jerry and I met several of our church friends at the church early that morning (about 7am) to get started. Jerry was driving the church van and we were going to follow Pastor Hays and his wife to Cocoa Beach. A number of the others had either already left for Florida or were going to meet us there later.
Since there were several of us following each other each vehicle had a walkie talkie so we could communicate. Then we headed for Cocoa Beach. We stopped at McDonald's for breakfast on the way. We arrived at our hotel at Cocoa Beach about 3 pm that afternoon. We all got settled in our rooms and met up with the others that were already there.
Some of us got together and went out to dinner than drove to Port Canaveral to make sure we knew how to get to the ships. Then, we went back to the hotel and everyone just relaxed. I went to the beach because the only ocean I had seen before was the Gulf of Mexico and I wanted to see the Atlantic. Jerry played Spades with our friends John and Kathy Brock for a while. Then, we all decided to turn in sort of early. It was nice to be there a day early so we would not have to rush to get to the ship the next morning.
