Manhattan - Christmas 2000

Churches

The Brick Church

Park Avenue

I went to The Brick Presbyterian Church for the Watchnight service on Christmas Eve.  It was an especially beautiful service and I celebrated the arrival of Christmas with some lovely people whom I'd met earlier in the evening at the minister's home and at the apartment of the Davids2

St Thomas' Church

St Paul's' Church

The church of George Washington when New-York was the capital in the 1790s

Grace Church is famous for the theatrical wedding of Tom Thumb in 1863,  the wedding of Newland Archer and May Welland in the novel 'The Age of Innocence' by Edith Wharton, the leaning spire erected in 1888 [a marble spire replaced a lighter wooden spire], and the promotion of mulled wine after Sunday services to lure Bulgarian bankers into the congregation.
