SQUAD 263

Squad 263 is the Edinburg Volunteer Fire Department"s
Emergency Medical Services unit. The box and accessories were
built by Marque Inc. and assembled onto a 1998 International Lo-Pro
chassis and cab. Squad 263 is equipped for the treatment and transport
of victims or patients to nearby Robinson Memorial Hospital. Equipment
on board includes hospital communications, oxygen, IV supplies,
cardiac monitor/defibrilator, wound dressings, and immobilization
equipment. Many members of the EVFD are trained as Emergency Medical
Technicians and Paramedics. The initial training involves hundreds
of hours of classroom instruction and field experience plus ongoing
continuing education requirements of 20 - 30 hours of instruction
every year. The EVFD EMS crew members give of their own precious
time to be prepared to render aid and bring relief when it is
needed most.
