September 1, 1992, in Gables Lodge, Amherst. Born in Yorke
Settlement, Cumberland County, he was a son of the late Arthur and
Terza (Joyce) Yorke. He was a retired lumberman and farmer. He is
survived by four daughters, Jean (Mrs. Guy Bowden), Fox River;
Evelyn (Mrs. Richard Lamb), Eva (Mrs. Willard Yorke), Neta (Mrs.
Donald Bowden), all of Diligent River; three sons, Layton, Fox
River; Kenneth, Diligent River; Donald, Stewiacke; two brothers,
Logan, Diligent River; John, Fox River; 25 grandchildren; 32
greatgrandchildren; a great-great-grandchild. He was predeceased by
his wife, the former Lila Canning; son, Charles; four sisters,
Edith, Nora, Maude, Lettie; three brothers, Richard, Russell, Lloyd.
The body is in Smith's Funeral Home, Parrsboro. Funeral will be 2
p.m. today in Holy Trinity Anglican Church, Fox River, Rev. John
Swain officiating. Burial will be in church cemetery. Donations may
be made to Holy Trinity Anglican Church or any charity.

was a son of the late Albert and Eva (Varner) Bowden. He worked for
C.E. Harrison and Sons and for 20 years with the Department of
Highways, retiring in 1983. He is survived by his wife, the former
Neta Yorke; three sons, Ivan, Lower Sackville; Maurice, Southampton;
Arthur, Parrsboro; four daughters, Maxine, at home; Donna (Mrs.
Terry Smithson), Cochrane, Alta.; Betty (Mrs. Bob Johnson),
Brampton, Ont.; Lisa (Mrs. John West), Calgary; four sisters, Addie
Tomlinson, Moncton; Greta, Sackville, N.B.; Ruby (Mrs. Logan Yorke),
Mary (Mrs. Kenneth Yorke), both of Diligent River; four brothers,
Guy, Fox River; Hughie, Max, Glendon, all of Diligent River; 13
grandchildren; three greatgrandchildren. He was predeceased by a
brother, Hazen. A private family committal service will be held
Tuesday in St. George's Anglican Cemetery, Rev. John Swain
officiating. Donations may be made to Canadian Cancer Society or
South Cumberland Memorial Hospital. Arrangements under the direction
of Smith's Funeral Home, Parrsboro.


Effie Hawbolt Hatfield

1996, in East Cumberland Lodge, Pugwash. Born in Parrsboro, she was
a daughter of the late Edson and Elizabeth (Grant) Hatfield.
Surviving are daughters, Sylvia (Mrs. Roderick Jordan), Oxford; Mary
(Mrs. Gordon Gilroy), Amherst; Nancy (Mrs. Lester Gilroy),
Parrsboro; sons, Reginald, Ronald, Murray, Owen, Croyden, Parrsboro;
David, Shelburne; sister, Mrs. Evelyn Brothers, Windsor; 35
grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; two greatgreat-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her husband, Roy; sons, Roy, Arden, George;
sisters, Ella, Elsie, Marion; brothers, William, Irvin, Edson,
Lorne; three grandchildren. Visitation 7-9 p.m. tonight in Smith's
Funeral Home, Parrsboro. Visitation 2-4 p.m. Wednesday, funeral 4
p.m. Wednesday, both in Parrsboro Baptist Church, Rev. Jeffrey White
officiating. Burial in church cemetery. Donations to any charity.
