Maynard Clarence Hatfield

More than one source has suggested that he was adopted by Andrew
Ring Hatfield. His name does not appear in the "Hatfield Book". I
was informed several years ago that he was brought up in Brookville
(on the same hill where the Andrew Ring Hatfield house was located).
His father and mother are unknown at this date (20 March 1994) He
has listed on the marriage index as his parents Andrew & Nancy.

1862. Amassa was 22, single when he married Hanna Sophia Dow. a
cousin, 6 Jun 1894 Some confusion with name amasa and Isaac and the
census family #74 Diligent River; see Hat file for more.

There is an Amasa Dow who died in Biddeford Me Nov 23 1853

all his working years, surviving several shipwrecks and retiring n 1969. He is
survived by two sons, Harley, Fenwick nad Douglas of Calgary; a brother Sidney,
New Westminster, BC; He was predeceased by his wife, Margaret in 1978, a
brother Lawrence and a brother in infancy. 268

died September 27, 1993, in Saint John Regional Hospital, Saint
John, N.B. Born in Port Greville, Cumberland County, he was a son of
the late Blanchard and Emma (McCully) Ells. He was a master mariner,
following the sea all of his working years, surviving several
shipwrecks and retiring in 1969. He loved sports, mainly hockey and
baseball, and was an avid hunter and fisherman. He is survived by
two sons, Harley, Fenwick, Cumberland County; Douglas, Calgary;
brother, Sidney, New Westminster, B.C.; companion, Nettie Gamble;
eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by
his wife, Margaret; brother, Lawrence; a brother and sister both in
infancy. Visitation will be 2-4, 7-9 p.m. today in Campbell's
Funeral Home, Amherst, where funeral will be 2 p.m. Thursday, Rev.
Allan Griffin officiating. Burial will follow in Fenwick Cemetery.
Donations may be made to Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia,
Fenwick United Church or any charity.
