2007 Tournament
The 2007 Dirk Diggler Invitational Classic was
deemed a most memorable by original and founding member, Bobby "Big
Stick" Lutz. The DDIC all started on Friday with the arrival of
Johnny Wad Open host Billy Luzzi, Eddie Z, and Bill Ravina who played
5 practice rounds in 3 days. The tournament was marked by extreme
drought conditions which was better than the 2005 hurricane
conditions.
Memorable Moments of the DDIC:
- Friday practice round: 1st hole at
WhiteWater, Eddie Z has a 6-putt followed by Billy Luzzi's 7-putt.
The 3-putt money goes around twice on one hole.
- Later on Friday, hole number 11, Billy Ravina
sinks a 60 footer to continue his streak of putts over 50 feet for
the 10th consecutive year.
- Later on par 5 #15, Ed H dinks first into the
water, drops and hits up to 100 yards out. Follows with a bladed
wedge through 2 trees and goes in the hole for a birdie.
- Saturday's practice round at Planterra goes to
Billy Luzzi shooting a 97. Planterra was the first of the
clubhouses Billy left his catlike mark in. Billy Ravina's comment
of the smell, "I think the shirts even changed color!"
- After Monday's round at Planterra, Greg and
Bryan went out for 18 more and shot a 76 and 77. When Nancy went
to pick them up, she had no idea that Bobby put Bryan's $120
sneakers on the bumper along with Greg's sandals. 3 of the 4
shoes made the trip. They found the 4th at Blockbuster...no
damage....Nancy is a smooth driver.
- Tuesday at Summer Grove, Bobby almost stepped
on a 4-foot snake on 3rd hole. He proceded to make double
bogey.
- Later that night, Bobby asks Alex for a little
bit of wine to help his sore throat. 1 hour later, Bobby owned the
bottle and may have been on his second. Meanwhile Bryan spent more
than 8 hours in the hot tub. When he got out, we can only assume
his diggler probably shrunk to the same size as our
digglers.
- Wednesday final round at Flat Creek was not
pretty, Billy L needed only a 112 to win but fell apart. He did
however, mark the clubhouse again. Bobby L had worst round of the
summer. Ed fell apart, Greg was tied for the lead and fell apart.
Bryan double bogied 18 but still hung on to the lead. Eddie Z
finally had a medal round but too late. Alex and Billy played well.

- When told final round was switched to Flat
Creek instead of Braelinn, Billy Luzzi says, "But I own Braelinn"
- When asked which was his favorite course,
Eddie Z replied, "Inter"
