Originally
from Buenos Aires, Argentina, Jose Luis Colzani was born in 1955.
At the age of ten he started studying percussion in the “Conservatorio
Municipal Manuel de Falla” and was a member of the
Percussion Group of the same conservatory, playing diverse
instruments of percussion under the master D. Barilli. At the age
of fourteen he was engaged by the “Orquesta Sinfonica
Juvenil de Radio Nacional”. While in college, he focused in
jazz, rock and classical music and studied drumset with drummer
Alberto Alcala. In 1974 he moved to Europe to join different
groups and top forty bands and continued studying on his own.
After 4 years of engagement in Europe he retourned to Argentine
recording and worked with local and international artist like :
Jairo, Luis Miguel, Jose Luis Perales, Nicola Di Bari, Julia
Zenko, Iva Zanichi, Emilio del Guercio, etc.. Also worked with
Tango’s singers and compousers such as Susana Rinaldi,
Atilio Stampone, Ruben Juarez, Raul Lavie, Julian Plaza, Jose
Colangelo, Hugo Potenza, Libertad Lamarque, Roberto Goyeneche,
etc... As a member of these group he toured Europe and
Latin-America. From 1981 throught 1983 while worked as a drummer
played with the Colon Theatre Philharmonica Orchestra. In 1985 he
joined “Tango” a Oscar Araiz Ballet, with the Ginebra
Grand Theatre Ballet with the direccion of Atilio Stampone. In
1992 as a recording artist he has appeared in productions such as
Marcelo Torres’s Edad Luz, Argentinian contemporary folk
music ; Hugo Potenza’s Tango Libre, contemporary Tango ;
Emilio del Guercio’s Pintada, Rock-Fusion Argentinian Rock
Star. He has extensive experience programming drummachines for
the live shows and recording studios. From 1989 he has been
playing with famous local singer Sergio Denis. Presently he is
touring with World Renowner Dancer Julio Bocca and the
Argentinian Ballet under the direction of Atilio Stampone. He is
currently performing in local T.V. shows playing different
styles. As a teacher he has writen three books for drumset. One
of which will be soon published by Ricordi and B.M.G. of
Argentina.
