1844/5	Left Chester, VT (probably after father’s death) evidently unhappy with farming, relocated to Uxbridge, MA (not too far from Westford, where father was born), and learned the trade of wheelwright carriage maker).
1845	After apprenticeship as a wheelwright, relocated to Bath, NY where he started his own business. 1850 U.S. Census lists his occupation as a carriage maker.
1847	Married Maria M. Winants in Penn Yan, NY
1849	Albert Newell Fletcher, son of Ephraim and Maria born in Bath, NY. In the 1850 U.S. Census, Ephraim’s brother, James M. Fletcher was living with the family in Bath, NY. He remained in New York where he raised a family. For further information on James, see the genealogy report.
1851	Ephraim and family relocated to N. Bridgewater, MA (Brockton) where he resumed his business as a wheelwright.
1854	George Luther Fletcher, son of Ephraim and Margaret born. Ephraim became active in the Methodist Episcopal (M.E.) Church.
1855	George Luther died, aged 1y, 2m, 23d.
