EnsTren: (hi)
Edmondia: (hi)
EnsTren: (and in my head, as soon as they sign their
names, well like in fushigi yuugi with the statues)
EnsTren: (it breaks in half)
Edmondia: (?)
EnsTren: (in fushigi yuugi the girl main character is in
love and this satute (man and a woman) you put your
names on it and burry it where no one can hide it and
you'll never be parted)
EnsTren: (as soon as she put their names on the statue
breaks in half)
Edmondia: (uh, why?)
EnsTren: (cause one of the themes in the story is
breaking them up)
EnsTren: (was thinking their marriage contract brakes in
half)
EnsTren: (and seto, cause she's coming off of the
testosterone is in PMS times ten, swings into violent
depression)
Edmondia: (...that's just plain mean)
EnsTren: (what? it's the truth, coming off horomone
therapy like that is HARD on you)
EnsTren: (and since when do we care about meaness?)
Edmondia: (I meant breaking the contract)
Edmondia: (Seth's paused in ring-shopping to throw a hissy
fit)
EnsTren: (his bullshit didn't work)
Edmondia: (ah. now he's all pissy and moody)
Edmondia: (still gave her the ring tho)
EnsTren: (sweet)
EnsTren: (she's all violently depressed and staring at the
M!rod)
Edmondia: (he's pondering)
EnsTren: (she's taking up cutting--did you know it's a
pretty common practice?)
Edmondia: (I've only learned that by how many people have
told me they've done it)
Edmondia: (I don't think he approves)
EnsTren: (she's all...self destructive.)
Edmondia: (he's moody but still trying to snap her out of it)
EnsTren: (she's not)
EnsTren: (at least on "good days" she lets him remove
the scars)
Edmondia: (how much time has this taken place in?)
EnsTren: (well I think she's sleeping for a good three
days)
EnsTren: (maybe more)
EnsTren: (then a talk, depressed, and agreeing to
marriage)
EnsTren: (then a happy humming week)
EnsTren: (and then the making of their little tablet)
EnsTren: (and then it breaks in half)
EnsTren: (she's out of it for a while...then starts cutting)
Edmondia: (so do they ever actually get to the dance?)
EnsTren: (the happy week, maybe?)
EnsTren: (or he takes her to it in an attempt to snap her
out of it)
Edmondia: (could see him doing the latter)
EnsTren: (yeah)
Edmondia: (...and he's insisting she start wearing the ring)
EnsTren: (and she's refusing cause they aren't married)
EnsTren: (and starts sobbing again)
Edmondia: (now he's all flustered and fretting and saying that
it can be an engagement ring too)
EnsTren: (and she's all but they can't get married they
won't let them)
Edmondia: (and he's all, "But we can! We just have to figure
out how!")
EnsTren: (she's all sad and miserable, but agrees to have
it as an engagement/handfasting ring)
Edmondia: (he's a little bit happier with that news)
EnsTren: (and going to the dance, some people get
"something's wrong" vibes--most are backing away from
the new set of twins (which is bad news in domino))
Edmondia: (who gets "something's wrong" vibes?)
EnsTren: (atemu, cause seth is so...hovering around
seto, never leaving her side, buffering people, constantly
check to be sure she's alright)
EnsTren: (mai, if jou convinced her to come)
Edmondia: (he did)
EnsTren: (under protest, I bet)
Edmondia: (slight protest on ageist grounds - she is, after all,
a LOT older than he is)
EnsTren: (and it's a dinky little highschool that doesn't
deserve to be graced with her presance)
EnsTren: (...so who's going to be in the dress)
Edmondia: (I think neither of them are in a dress)
EnsTren: (is she still "girly is bad"?)
Edmondia: (I think he's managed to argue her down from that
mode of thinking)
EnsTren: (any lingering doubts?)
Edmondia: (a few, but I think Mai can help straighten those
out)
EnsTren: (seto won't talk to mai about them)
Edmondia: (then the doubts linger)
EnsTren: (well it's cause of what's underliing the
doubts--she knows Mai will make them go away)
Edmondia: (and she doesn't want them to go away?)
EnsTren: (doesn't want to be wrong, and she's felt this
way for a good portion of her life--they are comforting in
a morbid way)
Edmondia: (...Seth bought her fingerless, elbow-length
gloves)
EnsTren: (leather or "fancy")
Edmondia: (they're black, with silver dragons on)
EnsTren: (she'd love em, I want em!)
Edmondia: (I think they're for the dance)
EnsTren: (so what she's going ot be wearing?)
Edmondia: (He's bought her a new pair of black leather boots,
slightly slow-slung dark jeans, a new star-studded belt, a few
silver armbands, a couple of silver rings, a black spaghetti tank
with lacing up the sides and a sparkling blue fairy ont the front,
a few silver necklaces, and clip-on earrings. Also body glitter.)
EnsTren: (she won't like the fairy--or the fact it's
spaghetti tank)
EnsTren: (body glitter--worn for him, but not in public)
Edmondia: (he's run back and bought her another shirt)
EnsTren: (and she's scolding him for getting the silver
stuff--cause she could get custom stuff)
Edmondia: (he's promptly started doodling jewelry on a
notepad)
Edmondia: (oh, and her ring he custom-designed)
EnsTren: (what's it look like?)
EnsTren: (dragon, saphires are involved, I presume)
Edmondia: (nah, that's for regular)
Edmondia: (Diamond ring, set in platium)
EnsTren: (design on the platinum if any?)
Edmondia: (ankh)
EnsTren: (aww)
Edmondia: (diamonds in an ankh setting)
EnsTren: (aww)
Edmondia: (he's a bit of a romantic, I dare say)
Edmondia: (and he's presented her with designs for a set of
ankh-shaped earrings and a dragon necklace)
EnsTren: (she's helping him a little--pulling out all the
dragon books you know he has stashed away)
Edmondia: (yup... *sweatdrop*)
Edmondia: (Seth is wondering if she will model a black-and
silver bra and panty set he also happened to buy)
EnsTren: (she'c checking them and might be veering
towards agreement)
Edmondia: (now he's wondering if she'll wear them to the
dance)
EnsTren: (She's blushing, but agrees so long as it's not
going ot be visible.)
Edmondia: (he's presented her with a new tanktop)
EnsTren: (she's pointing out they will be able to see the
bra straps)
Edmondia: (he's pointing out that this one has thicker straps)
Edmondia: (and therefore it will cover it up)
EnsTren: (She's considering it, and asking why not a
teeshirt? She saw some girls wearing little ones that are
little more than tanktops.)
Edmondia: (He's leaned over and licked her shoulder.)
EnsTren: (She's blushing.)
Edmondia: ("That's why.")
EnsTren: (She's mumbling agreement.)
Edmondia: (A kiss to her cheek. "Thank you baby.")
EnsTren: (She's blushing more.)
Edmondia: ("...will you let me do your makeup too?")
EnsTren: ("...You know how to do that?")
Edmondia: ("A little... I can do your eyes, at least.")
EnsTren: ("None of that eyeliner stuff, I don't like the
idea of pointy things near my eyes.")
Edmondia: ("But that's what I know how to do best!")
EnsTren: ("Okay...")
Edmondia: (He beamed at her. "Pretty hikari!" he declared
happily, and glomped her.)
EnsTren: (She tried not to suffocate.)
Edmondia: (He loosened his grip and pulled her into his lap.
"Will you get your nails done, too?")
EnsTren: ("Yes.")
Edmondia: ("So we have everything we need for you?")
EnsTren: ("You're the fashion consultant.")
Edmondia: (He leaned forward and stole a kiss. "Pretty hikari.
Now what should I wear?")
EnsTren: ("...My old clothes?")
Edmondia: ("...")
EnsTren: ("It was just a suggestion!")
Edmondia: ("Hn, it'd better be. I'll just find something tight
and black - black looks good on everyone.")
EnsTren: (She grumped, "I don't have bad clothing.")
EnsTren: ("I look good.")
Edmondia: ("You do, yes. I have distinctly lighter hair and
darker skin. Wouldn't look as good on me.")
EnsTren: ("What about my turtlenecks?")
Edmondia: ("What about them?")
EnsTren: ("They are black, they look good on me.")
Edmondia: ("Hn. Don't like them.")
EnsTren: (She looked affronted.)
Edmondia: (He bent down and nipped lightly at her throat.
Cover up too much.)
EnsTren: (Scarlet was a good color on hikari.)
Edmondia: ("Plus we need to show off my hotness.")
EnsTren: (She jabbed him hard in the gut.)
Edmondia: ("Erk! Um, or not?")
EnsTren: ("Are you saying that I wasn't hot as a boy?")
Edmondia: ("You were quite hot as a boy. Just... slimmer
than me.")
EnsTren: ("I used shoulder pads to alter my profile.")
Edmondia: ("Doesn't surprise me - but you're still a slim little
thing. I'm, er, bigger.")
EnsTren: (She grumped.)
Edmondia: (He nuzzled his lips against her throat. Sorry
baby, but it's the truth! C'mon, you can dress me up all pretty
for you, I promise I won't complain TOO much...)
EnsTren: ("No, cause obviously my flair is not up to
scratch for you.")
Edmondia: (We have different tastes, pretty light, that's all.
And it'd be strange for everyone to see you with someone who's
wearing your clothes.)
EnsTren: ("The Yugis," a wave of negative emotions, "do
it all the time.")
Edmondia: ("They're weird and love the same clothes. But
nobody's seen me before, sweet light.")
Edmondia: (He sighed. "If you really want me to wear them, I
will.")
EnsTren: ("It's alright. Even if they would stretch
nicely.")
Edmondia: ("So I get to dress up in tight clothes?")
EnsTren: ("Yes.")
Edmondia: (He nuzzled her throat. "Thank you, pretty light.")
EnsTren: (She kissed him on the cheek.)
Edmondia: (He smiled. "I want to dance with you," he
admitted shyly, "But I don't really know how. I won't embarrass
you, will I?")
EnsTren: ("...I know how to lead...")
Edmondia: ("Is there any particular way one is supposed to
dance while at a high school dance?")
EnsTren: ("As I know it it's loosely hugging each other
and swaying--not real dancing at all.")
Edmondia: ("I think I can manage that...")
EnsTren: (She looked him up and down, "You'd look
funny in tails--but I'd kill to mambo, or maybe tango with
you.")
Edmondia: ("Is that good?")
EnsTren: ("Yes," she said instantly. She knew both
dances--the extravagance and swishiness appealed to
her.)
Edmondia: (He smiled shyly at her. "You'll have to teach
me.")
EnsTren: ("We could start now," she offered, surprising
him, "If you don't mind being the girl.")
Edmondia: (He shrugged. "Nah, I don't mind.")
EnsTren: (She dragged him to a dance studio--what
was a dance studio doing in a mansion? It also had a lab
with an electron microscope so a big room with mirrors
was no big deal.)
Edmondia: (He fervently hoped he wasn't going to wind up
stepping on her feet.)
EnsTren: (Fortunately it seemed whatever dance hikari
was teaching him had very strictly defined personal zones,
which helped. Hikari also made a call and said a dance
instructor would be here tomorrow actually. Ah, the
wonders of money.)
Edmondia: (Of course, that meant a total stranger was going
to see him make an ass of himself.)
EnsTren: (Which amused hikari greatly. So greatly
in fact that he thought that was the entire reason why she
offered.)
Edmondia: (He poked her.)
EnsTren: (She chastized him.)
Edmondia: ("I'll be good.")
EnsTren: ("Yamimine, why if you can pick up how to
read from my head, can't you pick up how to dance?")
Edmondia: ("Mental things are easy. Coordination is less
easy - your body knows how to move itself, but that same
knowledge in this body would probably make me fall over.")
EnsTren: (She nodded, "How about something that
will... be a reward in and of itself to do? That should
speed up your learning.")
Edmondia: (He blinked at her. "Okay.")
EnsTren: (She taught him the basics of the tango.
Pressing up against her was a very good incentive.)
Edmondia: (And he wasn't quite as uncoordinated as he
thought he would be.)
EnsTren: (It was a bit like fighting.)
Edmondia: (He certainly remembered how to do that.)
EnsTren: (Hikari told him that she was going to "dip"
him. It made his head swim because of the blood rush.
And then with an invitation he dipped her. Hikari was
much more graceful and had a prettier neck.)
Edmondia: (He liked this a lot more than fighting.)
EnsTren: (Maybe because it was hikari.)
Edmondia: (Hikari was very pretty.)
EnsTren: (Hikari was perfect.)
Edmondia: (He decided he liked dancing.)
EnsTren: (He just wished he was allowed to lick while
dancing--Hikari was too tempting sometimes.)
Edmondia: (But she'd probably hit him if he tried.)
EnsTren: (And he liked being pressed up against her.)
Edmondia: (So he kept his hands - mostly - to himself.)
EnsTren: (Hikari was proud of him.)
Edmondia: (He liked that.)
EnsTren: (And he got to make out with hikari on some
mats.)
Edmondia: (That was very fun.)
EnsTren: that's a wrap for that one I think.
Edmondia: indeed
EnsTren: why are they tangoing at the school dance?
Edmondia: because they can, I think
EnsTren: yeah
EnsTren: Mai is going "so lucky!"
Edmondia: that they know how to tango?
EnsTren: and get to
EnsTren: atemu's jealous at being shown up
Edmondia: he's paying attention?
EnsTren: yes
Edmondia: heh
Edmondia: I imagine there'd be an attempted interrogation at
the door
EnsTren: by who?
Edmondia: chaperone-type teachers
EnsTren: hehee
EnsTren: and the interogation consisted of?
Edmondia: a lot of surprise
Edmondia: this is Seto who still wears a boy's uniform, won't
accept a -chan, and here she is dressed up all pretty with a ring
on her finger and a boy on her arm
EnsTren: heheeee
Edmondia: and of course she'd need a permission slip for her
date
EnsTren: "Did you give Yugi this much of a hard time?"
Edmondia: "Miss Kaiba, I'm merely... concerned with the
suddenness of it all. And... it is against our rules for students
to be... that is... Miss Kaiba, since when do you wear a ring like
that?"
EnsTren: "My business is my own, is it not?"
Edmondia: "You are still a student at this school, Miss Kaiba,
and we must be concerned with your welfare. And it is against
the rules for our students to marry."
EnsTren: "We're not married."
EnsTren: Seto Kaiba became pale under the flourescent
lights and leaned against her date, hands clutching into
white knuckled fists.
Edmondia: The taller boy slipped an arm around her waist,
dark eyes narrowing. "We're engaged," he stated softly, "Is
that a problem?"
EnsTren: Two pairs of eyes pierced them, one set in a
tanned face, the other in bone white.
Edmondia: "We're merely concerned with the suddeness of it
all," the homeroom teacher continued, unnerved but undeterred.
"Not very long ago, Miss Kaiba, everyone thought you were a
boy. I'm sure you can understand our concern."
EnsTren: The look "Miss Kaiba" fixed them with was
disturbingly venomous.
Edmondia: "W-we're merely worried about your welfare."
EnsTren: Didn't she need to blink!?
Edmondia: "Can you t-tell us a little about your - your
fiancee?" one of the other teachers squeaked.
EnsTren: "I thought everyone in Domino was up to date
on the urban myths concerning twins."
Edmondia: "T-those are j-just stories. A-and none of the-
them are engaged."
EnsTren: "Ushiro is in an sanitarium because of a
story?"
Edmondia: "M-miss Kaiba, y-you still haven't t-told us about
your f-fiance."
EnsTren: She pressed her cheek to her fiance's, mirror
images. The paler image cocked an eyebrow.
Edmondia: "A-at least g-give us a name."
EnsTren: "Seth."
Edmondia: "A-and how d-did you two meet?"
EnsTren: "Why does that matter to you?"
Edmondia: "C-concerned a-about you."
EnsTren: "Bullshit."
Edmondia: "W-with y-your unique h-history..."
EnsTren: "Are you saying that I'm not competant?"
Edmondia: Another teacher stepped forward, eying them
both calmly. "We're simply stating our concern for you. You
are very young to be engaged, Miss Kaiba."
EnsTren: I'm seventeen going on seventy with a
fiance that's... what is it, three thousand?
Edmondia: Something like that. And I am - was - um, like,
nineteen?
EnsTren: Confusing. Can't you... make them go
away with your magic thing? The Rod is good at
controlling people, right?
Edmondia: Better to answer their questions and be on our
way - we'll need something official to say once people at your
company start noticing your ring.
EnsTren: "I think I'm old enough."
EnsTren: "What evidence do you have that I'm not
"mature" enough for this?"
Edmondia: "We're merely concerned. You lead a very busy
and very public life, Miss Kaiba, and a serious relationship can
put a strain on that, especially at your age."
EnsTren: "Considering me I think I can take the strain."
EnsTren: "Besides--it's not as if a child can come into
it..." She was going pale again and she laid her head
down upon Seth's chest.
Edmondia: He slipped another arm around her waist and
pulled her closer. Ssh, pretty light, they're just worried about
you - I would be too.
EnsTren: I'm strong! I-I-I'm not incapable!
Edmondia: Baby, I know that, I know that we're all right, I
know that. They're just surprised, pretty light, because it
seems like such a change to them.
EnsTren: "...It's not like I got a sex change in order to
get engaged to him. I'm perfectly healthy. Moody
perhaps, but healthy."
Edmondia: "Miss Kaiba, will you agree to have a session
with the school counselor to discuss this?"
EnsTren: "Why should I?"
Edmondia: "Why shouldn't you?"
EnsTren: "I don't want to."
Edmondia: "Why? If you're as comfortable as you say, you
should have no problems talking to a counselor about it."
EnsTren: "Counselor--hired by the school. Thank you,
but no. I would have the best, not a hack."
Edmondia: "Fine. Do that and send the school a transcript of
the session."
EnsTren: "So it can be revealed to the press like my
birth certificate?" she asked with the faintest glaze of
sweetness.
Edmondia: "That was the result of a theft, as well you know.
The offending party has been expelled. This will go in your
confidential file, Miss Kaiba."
EnsTren: "I have little faith in this school--what with
children dying and going insane for 'no reason,'" an eye
roll. "And a theft."
Edmondia: "Be that as it may," she said flatly, "You are still a
student here."
EnsTren: "I don't have to be."
Edmondia: "Any other institution would do the same. What
can it hurt, Miss Kaiba?"
EnsTren: A flick of the hand, utterly dismissive, "I have
been speaking to someone since I stopped the injections
in order to ease the transition."
Edmondia: "And is this someone available for comment?"
EnsTren: "Yes."
Edmondia: "Leave the number in the guidance office on
Monday."
EnsTren: "Fine, may we go now?"
Edmondia: "You may. Enjoy the dance."
EnsTren: And they went in together, Seto seething and
vindictive.
Edmondia: Seth squeezed her gently, turning to brush his lips
against her ear. We're here to enjoy ourselves, pretty light,
don't let them bother you.
EnsTren: Hikari struggled to wrench her emotions back
undercontrol. Anger was easier to manage than
fear--fear sucked her in, subversive and insidious.
Anger hit her like a mack truck.
Edmondia: Let's get something to drink, beloved, and find a
corner to sit in, would you like that?
EnsTren: Yesss...
Edmondia: He guided her to sit at the table farthest from the
dance floor, in the darkest part of the gym. He clung to the
shadows so few people saw them, and left her there just long
enough to retrieve two drinks.
EnsTren: She kissed him thank you and sipped.
Edmondia: He dragged his chair next to hers and watched
her. ...better?
EnsTren: Little.
Edmondia: ...they're only worried about you, beloved... try
not to let it worry you.
EnsTren: Grrrr...
Edmondia: He leaned over into her personal space and kissed
her.
EnsTren: Hikari calmed signifigantly.
Edmondia: We're here to have fun, pretty light - don't you
think this is more fun than being angry?
EnsTren: ...I suppose...
Edmondia: He pulled back, pouting prettily at her. You
'suppose'?
EnsTren: She pouted at him, but before he could kiss
the pretty pout she bit his nose.
Edmondia: He blinked at her. Um, ow.
EnsTren: Toothy grin and she pulled back.
Edmondia: What was that for?
EnsTren: Wanted to.
Edmondia: Good reason. He stole another kiss, soft and
fleeting.
EnsTren: Hikari calmed and her emotions were
negative, but not badly so. About the level of brooding.
Edmondia: What's wrong?
EnsTren: Just... blah.
EnsTren: She wrinkled her nose, she should be more
erudite.
Edmondia: He rubbed his nose against hers. Remember,
stupid school officials know nothing about us and are big fat
idiots.
EnsTren: She purred mildly.
Edmondia: He kissed her again.
EnsTren: She sighed, mood slightly lifted.
Edmondia: He trailed his fingers lightly up her stomach,
barely tickling her.
EnsTren: Another sigh, not nearly as buoyant.
Edmondia: He looped both arms around her waist and pulled
her onto his lap. Hm, pretty light...
EnsTren: Keep it in your pants, and your hands out
of mine. She kissed his bitten nose.
Edmondia: I'm being good, he pouted, and squeezed her
lightly. I haven't even stuck my hands up your shirt!
EnsTren: Do it and I'll pour my drink down your
pants.
Edmondia: I won't! I'm being good - all I'm doing is holding
you, that's normal, that's safe.
EnsTren: Yes. Yamiminesafe.
Edmondia: He nuzzled her hair. Yes. Safewithme. Safe to
hold, safe to kiss, safe to dance.
EnsTren: She nuzzled him lightly.
Edmondia: Shall we play tonight?
EnsTren: Her emotions took a sharp turn downwards.
Not duel monsters.
EnsTren: No games.
Edmondia: Not games. Fun. You, me, dancing. Nothing to
win and nothing to lose. Just us. Just you and me and ourselves.
EnsTren: I don't like this song. Petulance.
Edmondia: Then we won't dance to this song - we'll wait
until we find one we like. In the meantime, however... he pulled
her closer, lightly nuzzling her throat, We can snuggle.
EnsTren: She leaned against him only.
Edmondia: Unless you're feeling shy?
EnsTren: No, merely... Blah.
Edmondia: We're here to have fun, beloved, he murmured,
hands floating up her sides to gently rub her shoulders. To
have fun and relax and act like the teenagers that we still are.
EnsTren: She wrapped her arms around his neck and
shoulders.
Edmondia: He rested his forehead against hers, continuing
the impromptu massage. We don't even have to dance, if you
like - we can just stay here and cuddle.
EnsTren: Hikari was quiet and very very still.
Edmondia: What would you like to do?
EnsTren: No answer.
Edmondia: Beloved? He kissed her softly. Tell me what to
do to make you happy.
EnsTren: She didn't feel like she could be happy right
now.
Edmondia: He cast a glance around the darkened gym,
frowning. Baby, do you want to dance?
EnsTren: ...Okay.
Edmondia: He gently coaxed her to her feet, took her hand,
and led her to the crowded dance floor.
EnsTren: He gave her a twirl as he learned from ballroom dancing crash course, just to try to see her smile.
Edmondia: It lifted the corner of her lips, just a little.
EnsTren: He wished the song was right to tango with.
Edmondia: But the beat was all wrong.
EnsTren: Stupid band.
Edmondia: Well... he could at least pull her closecloseclose
and tight and... do that swaying thing that everyone else was
doing.
EnsTren: Hikari was still sadsad.
Edmondia: He stole another kiss, soft and quick, shifting his
grip on her waist and pulling her closer. Love you, pretty
Hathor.
EnsTren: She was noncommunitive. Hikari's emotions
were hard to predict... worse than Aishizu and Mana
during those times of the month.
Edmondia: He held her tightly as the song ended, leaning
down to kiss her forehead. Let's hope for a faster song this
time, hm?
EnsTren: There's not enough room to dance a tango.
Too many people.
Edmondia: They'll move if I tell them to move.
EnsTren: Oh..?
Edmondia: Mmm. Plus people get out of the way if they
think you know what you're doing.
EnsTren: Slightslight smile. Still very much depressed
but somehow paradoxically happy, or at least amused in
the midst.
Edmondia: ...did they upset you so?
EnsTren: Dunno. I get like this sometimes.
Edmondia: Mmm... He stole another kiss. Enjoy this - you
should. This is your night, pretty light.
EnsTren: How is it mine? Dark undercurrent.
Nothing was hers.
Edmondia: I am.
Edmondia: This is our first night out together, my ankh.
EnsTren: Deeper darker. Not mine. Not... Tears
blurred her eyes.
Edmondia: Beloved. He caught her hand in his own, pressed
it to his heart. Not yet in practice, but still your own. I live for
you. And if I must defy the gods for you - I will.
EnsTren: You said they'd keep us apart, not sleep.
She pulled away from him. Not rejecting him, but simply
physically showing the isolation she felt with her
emotions.
Edmondia: How could I sleep when fighting to get to you?
he asked softly, never releasing her hand. How could I rest
knowing you were apart from me?
EnsTren: Not mine. His.
EnsTren: Anger churned in her belly.
Edmondia: No. He can release his claim on my soul - I am
yours.
EnsTren: Would he? Sly, silver and steel and sharp
sliding as if between ribs to the heart.
Edmondia: Yes.
Edmondia: He should be here - we can go now and ask him.
EnsTren: She recoiled and pulled from his hands. She
had no wish to go near him.
Edmondia: Beloved - this is not his fault - I bound myself to
him willingly. But I can go on my own and beg my freedom.
Shall I?
EnsTren: No, not blaming either of them. Just hating his
cousin.
Edmondia: Beloved, if I leave you now, will you be all right?
It won't take long, but I don't want to leave you...
EnsTren: ...Take my purse. I keep... I keep ours with
me at all times.
EnsTren: (yes, she carries around the tablet, thin marble
tile isn't that heavey)
Edmondia: All right... He took her hand and they sidled their
way off the dance floor, retreating to their table. He took her
purse, paused, and leaned down and kissed her softly. This
will be righted tonight, my love.
EnsTren: She bowed her head and caressed her arms,
and then smoothed down her thighs. Her scars.
Edmondia: It ends tonight, he breathed, and left her with a
smile.
EnsTren: She did not believe. Her hands itched for
something sharp.
Edmondia: She didn't like watching him disappear into the
crowd.
EnsTren: Her pain was her own, she wanted it now that
she was alone.
Edmondia: "...Kaiba-kun?"
Edmondia: "Seto-chan?"
EnsTren: Her head snapped up.
Edmondia: Mai's bright eyes were fixed on her, a worried
expression on her face, and behind her, Anzu bit her lip.
"Seto-chan, are you okay?" Mai asked softly, drawing closer.
EnsTren: She shook her head mutely and folded her
arms, gripping just under her elbows and digging into the
tender scarred flesh.
Edmondia: Mai slid to her side, Anzu following to stand next
to her. "What's wrong?"
EnsTren: She was disinclined to speak so she only
lowered her eyes.
Edmondia: "...where's Seth?" Anzu asked quietly, "Shouldn't
he be with you?"
EnsTren: Her head turned to the direction she KNEW
Seth to be in.
Edmondia: All she felt from him was quiet determination.
EnsTren: It wouldn't be enough. Not even her
determination which could break the fates was enough
against them.
Edmondia: "...Seto-chan..."
EnsTren: She blinked, the blue laser like intensity of her
eyes cut off and she looked at the speaker softly.
Edmondia: Mai looked back at her, eyes tender. "Whatever it
is he's doing, he's doing it for you."
EnsTren: "But it won't be enough, because it never is."
Not against him.
EnsTren: She tugged her arms slightly, scratching the
soft flesh.
EnsTren: She almost smiled.
Edmondia: Beloved!
EnsTren: ???
Edmondia: He said yes!
EnsTren: She started to fall sideways out of her chair.
Edmondia: We can get married - he said yes!
EnsTren: Mai-chan was holding her up.
EnsTren: (but what about when he finds out that that
was the thing that kept them from killing themselves?)
Edmondia: (he'll be upset, but accept it - and now that they
can be married, why shouldn't they want to live?)
EnsTren: (she's cutting.)
EnsTren: (and she didn't try to because they couldn't be
married)
Edmondia: (well Seth's certainly not going to allow it now)
EnsTren: (because he's hers now she might not cut as
much)
Edmondia: He melted out of the crowd, brows furrowing in
worry when he saw her, and rushed to her side. Beloved?
EnsTren: She had a plainly shocked expression on her
face. She really should blink, that couldn't be good for
her eyes.
Edmondia: Mai gently pushed her into his arms, and he knelt,
bearing her gently to the ground. Beloved? Pretty light?
EnsTren: Yami.
EnsTren: Use your powerthingy and make the band
play a tango beat.
EnsTren: She was grinning, wide and infectious.
Edmondia: He beamed back at her and did so, gently pulling
her to her feet.
Edmondia: As you wish, my light.
EnsTren: They were going to show them all how to
dance.
Edmondia: Seth laughed happily and pulled her tight against
him. Shall we?
EnsTren: Yes!
Edmondia: The music started, smooth and sultry and wicked.
EnsTren: And the students got out of the way of the ones
who knew what they were doing.
Edmondia: They danced.
EnsTren: She smiled, she was in love.
Edmondia: He smiled and dipped her low enough that her hair
nearly brushed the floor.
EnsTren: He dared to kiss her neck as her leg wrapped
around him.
Edmondia: This - this was life.
EnsTren: She didn't want to let it go.
Edmondia: She didn't want to let him go.
EnsTren: So she didn't.
Edmondia: He held her tight.
EnsTren: There was nothing ill in the world then.
Edmondia: Just him, and her, and the dance and the night.
EnsTren: Their life, their heartbeat.
Edmondia: Their soul.
EnsTren: Their marriage.
Edmondia: In the last breathless moment of their dance, he
kissed her.
EnsTren: And rightfully so they were applauded.
Edmondia: Neither one cared.
Edmondia: You're beautiful, he whispered, eyes adoring.
EnsTren: She kissed him again.
Edmondia: When they parted to yet more applause, he smiled
softly for her. "I love you," he breathed, "More than you'll ever
know."
EnsTren: For a split second she felt as if she could do
it. But only a split second.
Edmondia: He didn't seem to mind, just threaded his fingers
through her hair and held her close.
EnsTren: They kissed.
Edmondia: The band started up again, this time something
slow and tender. ...shall we dance, my beloved?
EnsTren: Ballroom please, the swaying is not
dancing.
Edmondia: As my lady wishes, he murmured, and stepped into
position with a smile.
EnsTren: She held her arms properly and stiffly, and they
swept into a new dance.
Edmondia: He had a giddy smile on his face the whole time.
EnsTren: She mirrored it.
Edmondia: Love you, pretty light. Forever and ever and
ever.
EnsTren: She was blinding and content.
Edmondia: They danced, smooth and slow and graceful,
movements oddly incongrous in their dark, modern clothes, but
perhaps even more elegant because of it.
EnsTren: He wished hikari were in a dress.
Edmondia: But she wasn't, and it didn't really matter.
EnsTren: She was perfect.
Edmondia: She was his.
EnsTren: And he was only hers, finally.
Edmondia: He stole another kiss.
EnsTren: You can't steal what was freely given.
Edmondia: He hid his face in her hair.
EnsTren: Life was good.
Edmondia: Life was wonderful.
EnsTren: All was perfect.
Edmondia: He kissed her again, lingeringly.
EnsTren: And she smiled.
Edmondia: Their dance slowed until they were standing
together in the middle of the dance floor, simply smiling at one
another.
EnsTren: It was perfect.
Edmondia: For you, he whispered.
EnsTren: Beloved.
Edmondia: He beamed at her.
EnsTren: Home?
Edmondia: Yes.
EnsTren: And they swept away leaving nurmerous
comments in their wake.
EnsTren: Such as:
"Why can't my boyfriend dance like that?"
And
"That damn Kaiba's showing off!"
Edmondia: "Why can't my boyfriend look like that?"
EnsTren: "...Kaiba-san is hot."
"Does this make my girlfriend a lesbian?"
Edmondia: "...Kaiba has a nice ass."
"Which one?"
"Both of 'em."
EnsTren: There was a flurry of discussion of girl-Kaiba's
ass when she looked completely like a boy versus
boy-Kaiba's ass.
Edmondia: In the end, no decisions could be made.
EnsTren: It was just as well.
EnsTren: "Yadonushi, do you know how to dance like
that?"
Edmondia: A shy smile. "No... I bet I could learn, though..."
EnsTren: "I'm going to lead though, Yadobushi."
Edmondia: He rolled his eyes. "Whatever, yami."
EnsTren: "Yami-chan, can you dance like that?"
Edmondia: "Not... exactly."
EnsTren: "Yami-chan, why can't you dance like that?"
Edmondia: "I never learned."
EnsTren: "Yami-chan sucks!"
Edmondia: "Do you know how to dance like that?"
EnsTren: "A little--Jiichan used to live in Vegas and had
some great parties--he said he'd take me when I was old
enough."
Edmondia: "Really..."
EnsTren: "Yup! He taught me some of the basics so I
wouldn't look like a complete fool. Jiichan was so good
he got a duel monsters card based off of him."
Edmondia: "Hmn."
EnsTren: "Legendary Gambler, remember it,
Yami-chan?"
Edmondia: "Ah, yes."
Edmondia: (bed)
