Plan A is to follow the time frame shown in the chart below. Linda and I have a PowerPoint presentation that we will be using part of the time with the live audience. It covers the whole presentation should we have problems with connections, but we actually expect to use it mainly with the live audience at the beginning and to show a few slides later between YM presentations. The slides for Alado and Learning Times will be show to both audiences (live and online) at the same time. I will put it all on the web after the presentation.

How much time do each of you have to present?
You should all have at least 3 minutes and maybe as much as 5 minutes. If you see that we're getting behind schedule, keep it to 3 minutes, so we get to hear from everyone. Also, keep it mind that we will lose a little time as we transition from one application to the next.

Prior to actually starting the presentation, I will open all the applications and web pages we’ll be using on the computer. Or I may have to do it while Linda is introducing us. If all goes well, we’ll get into the room on time and be able to start on schedule. There are 15 minutes between presentations, so I hope the previous presenter will leave on time. I plan to get into YM before we start, so you can see that I’m connected to the Internet.

Then Linda will present for the live audience, but Webheads will not be able to participate. She is going into her Blackboard site to show a video clip and Horizon-Wimba Voice Board. Meanwhile, the Webheads will meet in YM. I’d like for Teresa to get you all into one voice conference but leave me out of it. For me, YM will be behind Linda’s presentation on the computer screen, so I won’t be able to see what you’re doing. I also don’t want the YM sound to interfere with the sound from Linda’s video clip or voice boards.

I’ll tell who the Webheads are with an appropriate ppt slide. Then I’ll explain a little about how YM works and show screenshots of the interviews my ESL students did with Webheads last year. Then we’ll be ready to bring you all in.

Linda is going to talk about some advantages and disadvantages of YM while I connect with you. When I’m ready, I’ll send Teresa a text message to invite me to the YM voice conference. (If any of you have webcams, I’ll project them, and introduce you briefly as people who will speak later in the session. Since Rita and Teresa will be speaking in YM, it’d be especially nice to be able to see you.) Then I’ll introduce Rita, and she’ll talk about the project her class did with the students in Michigan. I have a slide of a map showing both Argentina and Michigan.

Next I’ll introduce Teresa and show a map including Portugal & Taiwan and another one with some screenshots. Then she’ll talk about her class meeting with Aiden in YM emphasizing that she was able to record it. When she finishes, I’ll play about one minute of the beginning of the recording she made. (I downloaded it from her site, so it would be clearer to the live audience, and we won’t have to wait. I’ll be curious to hear how the sound comes across to you all.)

Moving on, Linda will talk about Alado pros and cons while I close down YM and login to Alado http://www.alado.net/webheads. Andy will be waiting there for us and will project the slides. I will introduce Dafne first and later Andy. Dafne will tell about her architecture students using Alado to make presentations. Then Andy will talk about how Alado is being used in various places, show us a web page with photos of Alado at work, and provide other suggestions for using Alado academically.

When he’s finished, I’ll close Alado and move on to LT http://home.learningtimes.net/learningtimes?go=273662. Linda again will talk about some of the advantages of each one while I switch programs. Buth will be waiting for us there and have the slides for LT already uploaded. She’ll make me a moderator. Then all of you can type in your names on the whiteboard on a map of the world. If you have a small photo you can put up, that would be good, too. (If other Webheads have joined the presentation, they can also add their names and photos.) After that, Buth will talk about Learning Times and 2 different kinds of activities she has done using LT.

During the wrap up, Linda will ask for questions, and I’ll try to get some audience members come up and speak to you. We’ll do this simultaneously, depending on the response from the audience.
