Card Game

This activity is a completion of an unfinished sentence.  On separate posterboard cards are printed such sentence stubs as
If I were older...
My favorite place...
When I make a mistake...
I wish...
I can't understand why...
Reading is...
Other kids...
Ask each child to pick a card, read it to himself, and respond if he wishes by saying the finished sentence aloud.  He may wish to hold the card up for others to respond to.  Often this activity leads to a lengthy and valuable exchange of ideas and feelings.  Even silent members can gain confidence when he hears his peers expressing feelings that he shares but cannot voice.
