SEE A NEW YOU IN YOU IN THE NEW YEAR

 The grass grows for the sake of growing, the raindrops pour for the sake of pouring, the flowers bloom for the sake of blooming. They do not have any goal or purpose.Then why do human beings alone need a goal in life?

Let us understand that a blade of grass, a raindrop and a flower cannot outgrow the nature with which they were born. The beehive is an engineering marvel. But the way it is constructed now is exactly the same way it was constructed thousands of years ago.  However the man of this millennium bears very little similarities with his ancestors of the cave. Of all the creations in existence, human being alone is bestowed upon with the ability to outgrow his very nature.

A planted seed must germinate and it is this ability of the seed to manifest life that splits it from the pebbles. Similarly a born human being must outgrow his very nature. He must find the field of expression for his potential and not just walk with dead spirits. That is why you need a goal in life. If you have a vision for tomorrow, you will find power and strength in your today. Ensure that your life is not like a candle which gave light only when it was alive, but like that of a torch which can be passed on to the generations. Outgrow your present self to experience your higher nature.  To evolve from animalistic nature, to manifest the divinity within oneself is the purpose of being  born as a human being.

Think of a notebook with several pages. Each page in itself is just an open page. Even if we have wasted the first half of the notebook by just scribbling, we can still write poetry after poetry in the second half of the notebook and make it worth preserving. Metaphorically, the notebook can be compared to our life and each open page in it to a day in our life. Even if we have wasted the entire past of our life , we can still make a beginning starting today. We can make the most of everyday of our life from now on and create a life that will be cherished.

The past of an exquisite sculpture was a stone which took numerous blows from the chisel of a sculptor. A glittering diamond was once an unnoticed piece of carbon. Remember our past is not equal to our future. Let us use our entire energy to become what we want to in the future lying ahead of us.  Tough times of the past were designed by life to strengthen us in order to face the challenges of today and to evolve us for the tomorrow.  The rearview mirror of our automobile can aid our driving, but we have to look ahead through the windshield glass for driving safely.  Our past only serves as a rear view mirror reflecting our accomplishments and failures. It teaches us the lessons on what to do and what not to do. So let us feel grateful to our past but move on. Wake up, to transform the dreams of last night into the realities of today.

2006 -  The New Year is born. New Resolutions are made by everyone. Motivational levels are high in the beginning of the New Year. The first pages of the diary are filled up right from the name to the blood group………Appointments and plan for the week are jotted down carefully. But after a few days most of the pages remain unused and they often become the rough notebooks and scribbling pads of the subsequent years. If an external factor called New Year triggers your motivation and resolutions, then as the dawn of the new year fades, so will your motivation evaporate and resolutions become short lived.

As far as the dates are concerned, the last column of ‘year’ changes into a new one. However doesn’t the column of ‘month’ too change into a new one, almost every 30 days? Doesn’t the column of ‘day’ too change every 24 hours? Yes, the year is new, the month is new and the day is new. But, are you new? If you aren’t new, then what in life can change with just an external change in the calendar?

The freedom of choice to use or abuse the today of our life purely rests with us. Whether to live up to animalistic instincts or live up to the glory of being a human being  is again a matter of choice to the human being . What you want to do with your life from here on and now on is a matter of your choice. Let the New Year 2006 be an awakening. Let us be careful not to fool ourselves another time.
