AIG Extension Activities

After you have completed the basic activities on your literary selection, you will need to complete this activity: Poe is often referred to as the "Father of Horror," and twentieth century author, Stephen King, is often called the "King of Horror." Poe's writings reflect his fears of being buried alive and the loss of loved ones. King's early writings revolve around childhood fears. After reading one of the listed King novels, you will need to create an editorial for "Castle Hanes" of 300 words stating your opinion of the Poe's influence on King and a comparison of the two authors.

King Novels:

Carrie
Salem's Lot
Firestarter
The Stand (good for extra credit)
The Shining
Cujo
The Pet Semetary
Christine
