 Meet the project coordinator

The Youth Overhauled project

  1. To create awareness about the state of street children in Uganda globally.  Awareness: We would like to create a more national and global awareness about the state of street children. Under this, we hope to archive through printing posters, supplying monthly newsletters both surface and electronic. Through the International Education and Research Network (IEARN) and School net Uganda, we shall be able to capture a number of participants to take part in this project. Hence we hereby call upon the whole global village to develop a concern and heart of brother ness towards the street children. But how, you can be part and parcel of this? -  through posting in articles to us about the street children basing on the area where you do come from. This can be  a poem, short story, real life experience name it.
  2. Education: This is the core of this project. Through this campaign, we hope to raise funds to set up a resource center in Kampala where street children from other organizations dealing with former street children like "The Friends Of Children association (FOCA"), The Reverend Kepha Ssempangi Foundation, The Tiger's club among others can drop them in for training in IT, Computer Repair, packages and other related fields.   We hereby call upon all interested people, individuals, parents, partners, schools, students and organizations to work hand in hand with us in this struggle. Your participation can surely make a positive impact however little you think it may be. Whichever day that goes by, their numbers culminate. Also under the education, would like  to set up a peer education programme and counseling. We shall be visiting the street children affiliated to other organizations and those who will still be on the streets, giving them knowledge about health, life skills and reassurance.
  3. Telellaboration: Members in this project shall be required to exchange views with students, teachers and others in their respective dignities  on the issue of street children. In the course of this project, shall collect and exchange information with other participants about the state of street children in their regions if any, the measures employed to reduce their numbers or to   over come the problem completely and improving their lifestyle on the streets..
  4.  Necessities: The project as well has a task ahead to provide other basic needs like medical attention, clothing, food e.t.c to the street children. So far some members have forwarded in some unfitting or used up clothes for the street children in Uganda. We hope that more people will be doing the same as well soon.
