Edinburgh, the Highlands, and the Isle of Skye - May, 2006 - Having been intrigued by a short trip in autumn 2004, I returned to Scotland in May of 2006 to explore more widely. A week in Edinburgh and a week in the Highlands and Hebrides Islands gave me the opportunity to shoot during the spring, when the days are longer (it didn't get dark till after 10 in the evening). Edinburgh city shots, daytrips to St Andrews and Rosslyn Chapel, the key Scottish town of Stirling, Inverness and the Highlands, and the scenic pleasures of the Isle of Skye are the elements in this travel journal.

Tuscany, September/October 2004 - Ever since traveling to Siena in May of 2000, we had been dreaming of returning to our favorite Tuscan city. This time, we rented an apartment and a car, and had a ten-day span to enjoy Siena, and to explore many of the nearby Italian hilltowns, including Monteriggioni, San Gimignano, Pienza, Montepulciano, and Montalcino. We also visited the breathtaking Abbazia di San Antimo, a travertine marble sanctuary with amazing light and views. This is Tuscany at its best...

In the last few years, I've been lucky enough to do some traveling, and when I travel, I almost always take a camera (or two, or three, or...). As the number of images from these travels have risen in exponential fashion (especially since starting digital work in 2003), I've been looking for a way to share them. But, of course, that takes time... Lately, I've been experimenting with a new layout for showing these travel photographs. The result is the Travel Photography pages below. Venice - October 2004 - After exploring Tuscany, we had a chance to return to my favorite Italian city. Venice is like nowhere else on earth. I'm strongly attracted to the sea, and of course Venice is surrounded and occasionally submerged by it! Much of the city is essentially unchanged in many hundreds of years. And the Venetian light is much softer than Tuscany. This time I also had a chance to visit Burano, a little island near Venice that has gorgeously painted houses alongside its canals.

Scotland - September, 2004 A photographic journal from an autumn week in Scotland. It includes the great city of Edinburgh, travel across the Highlands, the fabled (and rather wet) Isle of Skye in the Hebrides, the valley of the River Tay in Perthshire, the cathedral city of Dunkeld, and the historic town of Dunfermline, formerly the capital of Scotland, the home to most of the remains of the mighty Robert the Bruce.
