Ed's List of the
Best Freeware around!

 Matisse
This is a list of the very best freeware that I have come across on the Internet.  I use these programs all the time, and don't know how I'd get along without them!

Irfan View   This has got to be the best graphics viewer around.  I cannot praise it too much. Everyone I know who has tried it thinks it's great also.  It's very handy for scrolling through a folder full of pictures... Spacebar to go forward; Backspace to scroll backward.

In addition to being a great viewer, it has a large number of graphics editing features that are extremely useful and easy to employ.  It also features batch conversions and batch resizing, as well as a number of batch editing features.  This program is number one on my list of best freeware.

Arachnophilia Html Editor 4.0 (Windows Version)   This is, in my opinion, the best Html Editor I know of.  I used it to make this entire site.  It is loaded with really useful features, and is very easy to use.  If you are into making web pages, this program is a must have.

Note: There is a new Java edition of this program that was recently released, but I have not tried it yet. To obtain the Windows version, scroll down the page when you get there.

Color Cop   The best color selector program for working on web pages that I have ever used.  Will save you lots of time, and is extremely easy to use.  Even has an eyedropper for selecting colors on your screen.  This progam is really good.

BK ReplaceEm   Outstanding search and replace program.  And it's unbelievably fast!!  It does multiple replacements easily, recurses sub-directories, and is highly configurable.  And did I mention that it was fast?  An unbeatable search and replace program.

Wany Word   WanyWord is a really nice text search program with Boolean (AND, OR, NOT) and proximity searches.  If you have lots of text files, and need to find a certain one, then this is the program for you.

Properties Plus   Have you ever needed to change the properties or attributes of a whole bunch of files?  Like, for example, when you copy a bunch of files from a CD, and they are all "Read Only" files, and you want to change all their attributes to something else.  Or maybe you want to change the time stamp of a bunch of files all at once.

If so, then this is a program you need.  It even recurses subdirectories, and I find it to be really fast.  It adds the option "Properties Plus" to your right click shell menu.  Just right click, choose "Properties Plus", and choose what you want to do.

It is a really great freeware program that I have used hundreds of times.
