Born to Fly!

It was for freedom that Christ set us free;
therefore keep standing firm and do not be subject again to a yoke of slavery.

- Galatians 5:1 -

God saved us not to be grounded by doubt and desire, fear and opposition. God saved us to free us from all these, that we may enjoy unhindered and complete communion with Him. It was for freedom - freedom from sin and death; freedom from self and the world; freedom from lesser things; freedom from fear; and freedom to embrace his will for our lives - that Christ has set us free. When we were born again, we were born to fly!

Is anything holding us down? Is there anything keeping us from spreading our wings to the winds of God? Is there anything keeping us from taking that leap of faith? Is the nest too warm? Is there someone we love too much to give up? Is there something that we hold too dear to put aside or offer to God? Is it family, friends or spouse? Is it riches, fame or power? Is it acceptance and comfort? Have these things become our gods? Are we living for lesser things?

Or is it because we simply do not believe the wind will hold us up, and we will hurtle to the ground? Is it fear and unbelief - the most paralyzing sins of the Christian? If we believed, we would have cast our dependence on the power and sufficiency of God and cast ourselves off the cliff of comfort. And we would have let the winds of God bear us where it will!

What is grounding you, Christian? Give it up! The Lord of the earth will give you more. Or will you be content with a life of mediocrity, and cast contempt on the grace of God by your unbelief? You were born to fly, and fly you must!
