Yesterday in GLCC we sang this song, "Must I go, and
empty handed, thus my dear Redeemer meet? Not one day of service
give Him, lay no trophy at His feet?"
I imagine some Christians entering heaven like a little child with his
arms full of things he's made for his Father. And as he approaches
the throne of grace, says, "Father, I know You don't need anything
because You have everything. But I just wanted You to have
this." And imagine his joy when he hears the words, "Well
done, my good and faithful child."
But I also imagine some who will come and, opening both hands, say,
"Well, I know you don't need anything so I have nothing to offer.
Here's what You gave me. It's Yours."
And how sad it will be when he is asked, "Did you bring anyone with
you?" and he answers, "No." Or, "Have you done
anything with what I gave you?" and he answers, "No.
Nothing."
What, I wonder, will we have in our hands when we see God?
