There were those of us who thought that replacing Eva Herzigova as the official spokesperson for the Gossard Wonderbra would be an impossible task. "Who can possibly take the place of that ravishing, Eastern European hottie?", we asked. Gossard answered that question in the single, most irrefutable way possible: Brenda Schad. When the smouldering model of native-American descent stepped aside, we were sure the best was over. But Gosssard had a secret weapon: Adriana Sklenarikova.

Adriana Sklenarikova was born in Slovakia in 1971. At the time, Slovakia was a financially strapped country, and coming to a new world of fashion was a big change for her. As she says:

With her stunning face, and imposing 1.8 metre (6 feet) tall frame, she was instantly snatched up by Next modeling agency in New York, and Elite Modeling in Milan. They soon had her in adverts for companies she has represented include Argentovivo, Byron Lars, Laura Biagiotti, Levante Hosiery, List, Love Sex Money, Onyx Jeans, Peroni Beer, Red Point, and Roberto Cavalli. Heady stuff for a girl from a poor, ex-Soviet country.

As well as her Wonderbra campaign, she also became part of the exclusive Victoria's Secret modeling team that included such luminaries as Tyra Banks, Laetitia Casta and Daniela Pestova.

Sadly for all red-blooded men, Adriana married soccer player Christian Karembeu in December 1998. The marriage was a major event in Spain since Adriana is one of the best known models in Europe, and her husband is the star player of one of the country's leading soccer teams.
