George Eliot: Silas MarnerReview Posted 5/18/01 by ElizabethThough this novel starts out somewhat slow and feels like a character portrait at first, it develops into a beautiful story. Elliot creates a fairy tale out of such dull materials as village life and the life of a weaver. This is also an intriguing look into the psychological and sociological aspects of a remote English village. Back to the George Eliot pageBack to index
