Chapter II~ The five Monsters and the Blood

It had been a month. Having already tried the first time, Cypher skipped every one of his classes. Elwynn skipped most of them too. Sometimes they went to play jokes on others or visited the beautiful island. Of course, Elwynn never passed the limit of the school border. She just couldn’t take a chance to be seen. Other than that, she was very happy to be with Cypher. He always had a way to make her smile or mad. He even invented a booklet called: ‘How to get Ely mad in 3 seconds’. When he was with others, he was back at his usual ignorance self. She didn’t really like it but couldn’t do much about it because he wasn’t doing that to her.

“Cyph! What are you doing here?” Elwynn asked gladly.

“Waiting for you.”

“Oh!”

“What do you feel like doing today?”

“Talking!”

“Hum, see you in three days.”

“WAIT! Don’t go each time that you hear that I want to talk! It is just that I know nothing of you, and you know nothing of me!”

“You don’t want to know my past…”

“Of course I do! Let’s find a place to sit down and talk, ok? Or I’ll be mad!”

“Good for me! I’ll have another thing to write in my booklet!”

“Cyph! That’s not funny!”

“It is!”

            They went to the forest, and Cypher immediately jumped to the top of the tree.

“Cyph! How dare you abandon me here like this?”

“I just did. Didn’t you say that you are good at fighting? Prove it to me.”

“Or are you just lying?”

“I am not! It’s just that I can’t jump with a dress.”

“Oh I see. Then never mind, have fun being down there. I’ll take a nap, and you will do all the talking.”

“Oh! We were talking about you getting down the tree! Are you getting down?”

“Nope.”

“Oh well. Then I won’t make you the cookies that you love.”

“Cookies? Coming down right now!”

            He jumped off the tree. Using her rings, she took out a blanket and a basket. She took out some cookies and handed them to him.

“Here, chocolate chip, mint chocolate, dark chocolate, and white chocolate cookies.”

“Oh… There is no double fudge?”

“Not today. I was tired to make this many already!”

“I see.”

            If Cypher had a weakness, it would be his desire to eat chocolate, especially in cookies.

“So, one cookie, one answer. Do you agreed?”

“Sure!”

“Where are you from?”

“Walkure and Salkerye.” He took a chocolate chip cookie.

“Why the both of them?”

“I was born at Salkerye, then I moved to Walkure.” He seized the white chocolate one.

“Why did you move?”

“Is this something that I can’t know?”

“I won’t force you. Another question. What is your ability, your best one?”

“Nigei, to control the wind.” Not only did he take the cookie that he wanted, he stole another.

“Did you master another ability?”

“Hakei.”

“Which one is your best monster?”

“…”

“Another stuck place. Oh well, how are your parents?”

“My mother died, and I have rather not have a father.”

“Do you have any siblings?”

“Yeah, a little sister.”

“That’s no secret! Spill it!”

“WHAT! And you didn’t tell me!”

“Do you have anymore questions? I want to eat the remaining cookies.”

“Myself.”

“Stop talking nonsense!” Elwynn’s face immediately became red.

“It’s true. I’ve only one friend, and that’s you.”

“Oh, while you are thinking, can I eat the cookies?”

“Sure. Oh! I have one. What is your absolutely favourite thing to do?”

“Eating cookies. Chocolate ones!”

“What do you have the most trouble to control?”

“Stupid question, what is your FULL name?”

“Do I really have to tell?”

“Yes! There is no secret in this, right?”

“Well yeah…”

“What secret?”

“Can’t tell you.”

“So, there are few stuffs that you can’t tell me. First, the motivation of your moving from Salkerye to Walkure. Second, the best monster to form Hakei with. Third, the reason why you hate your father. Fourth, the reason why you fear and hate yourself. Fifth, the thing that you have the most trouble to control. Sixth, your full name. If I try to put them together… That would give me… ARGGGG!!!! Too hard! Can’t solve it!!!”

“Then don’t! Now it’s my time for questions.”

“Sure!”

“Who calls you Wynn Wynn?”

“Chris.”

“Who is he?”

“Someone…”

“Who is he to you?”

“…”

“Hum… Let’s answer to every single question that you asked me!”

“Hum, ok. I am from Kronos Sanctuary. A year ago, I left this place.”

“Why?”

“Secret. My best ability is Erei.”

“That’s special. What is it exactly?”

“Secret. I don’t have another mastered Espsy. My parents? I never knew them. I have no siblings, or so I think. My birthday is three months and three days from now, so you better give me a present!”

“You didn’t give me one!”

“You didn’t tell me! Your lost! The thing I fear the most is Kronos Fallen Shine.”

“Why?”

“Secret. The person I hate the most… Can’t think of one. About the one that I like the most… That’s a secret!”

“No! There is absolutely no secret in this! Spill it! Come on!”

“S-e-c-r-e-t! Not telling! My favourite thing to do is to go to the ocean. The thing that I have most trouble to control is my aura. About my full name, that’s a secret too. Now I’ve answered every single one that I can. Anymore question?”

“Not that I can think of. Wait! What is your weakness?”

“Do I really have to tell?”

“Yes!”

“The truth?”

“Yes!”

“I am scared of blood.”

“That’s it? That’s not scary.”

“Oh yeah? What’s yours?”

“I have no weakness!”

“Yes you have!”

“Oh yeah? What?”

            Today was the day that people could graduate. During the time of a year, there were two tests that people could take to graduate. Everyone could participate, even those who were in first year. The exam was pretty easy for few students and hard like hell for the rest of them. For once, both of them attended to their class. Cypher said that he wanted to go to his class today because he had to pass an exam. Elwynn also went to pass her test. The whole school passed the same exam so even a low class person could graduate. Since it was only knowledge test, she finished very fast. She wandered around the school and laughed those who didn’t finish yet. When she passed the room of the school director, she stopped by curiosity. She looked there and saw someone with flash golden hair and blue eyes. He was Frederick Sledge Carolingian, one of the people whom she didn’t want to see! Why was he here? He graduated from the school two years ago. If he was here, maybe Christopher or Frederick was here too! She must run away, but her legs couldn’t move. Having no option, she concealed her breath and heartbeat in order to hide herself from his presence.

“Sergeant Carolingian, what do you wish me to do for you?”

“There is no need to be this polite, Director Rorez. I was a student here before.”

“Lower rank has salute their superior. That’s pretty normal. What can I do for you?”

“I am wondering if there will be any tempting students who would want to join the military.”

“I see.”

“Do you have the names of those who are strong?”

“Genius like you is very rare, sergeant.”

“I am no genius. My superiors are stronger than I am.”

“I do many few names. But their characters are… Not good for military.”

“We will see about that.”

“There is a boy named Cypher Al Zetrac. He is really good, but my fingers could count the courses that attended during this year. He didn’t do any practices or training. However, when he passed his entrance exam, he had a really high score, the strongest. Ren Igelstelung is the second, I would say. I don’t know about his ability because he had never demonstrated anything. He never talked once. No matter how dangerous the situation is, he never let out one sound. The other one is Len Schneider. He is like a kid. Never had he been serious once. The last one is Gwendel Hillands. He had potential just like the others. But he’s always too lazy to show his power. You see, sergeant. They are good but not for the military.”

“I see. This is not a problem. A lot of my comrades are like that before they entered to the army.”

“Should I introduce them to you?”

“Aren’t they doing the writing test right now?”

“Oh yeah, forgot about that. They have a really good chance to graduate. They didn’t even seem to need to go to this school. It seems that they were all forced to come.”

“That’s a little bit awkward.”

“True.”

“Director Rorez! I… I…” A woman ran in.

“Calm down. We have visit.” The director answered.

“Oh, pardon me for my intrusion! It is just that… Hum…”

“Relax and take a breath.” Frederick kindly said to that woman. “Calm yourself before talking. Do you want a cup of water?”

“Oh no, thank you. It is just that a student got 100% in her writing test! And she finished half an hour ago!”

“The writing test? 100%!!! That’s like virtually imposible!” Rorez rose up. “Is he Cypher?”

“No…”

“Ren? Len? Gwendel?”

“No… She is a girl… A first grader who just transferred to the school last month!”

“What’s her name?” Frederick asked.

“Elwynn, Elwynn Tenshi.”

“Tenshi? Are you sure about that?”

“Eleanor.”

“The… The… The successor of the noble family Eleanor and the future High Priestess?”

“Yes.”

“That’s not possible, is it?”

“I am not too sure either. But rumor said that there is someone who killed soldiers in Lorigen. We suspect that person to be she.”

“Why?”

“The way they died. All their blood is out of their body and numerous cuts were on them. That’s the sign of how she kills people.”

“But wouldn’t it be dangerous if she wanders alone, especially in Lorigen?”

“Yes, it is. The people from Kronos Santuary, Salkerye, and Walkure have vowed to keep her life while the people of Lorigen, Valkyrie, and Ralkilan have wanted to kill her. We are fortunate that no one has seen her face except the higher ranks from Kronos Bliss Castle and Kronos Fallen Shine.”

“It only seemed to be yesterday when she was born.”

“You once saw her?”

“Yes, sergeant. I saw her when she was born, and I also heard the prophecy.”

“I have never heard of it before.”

“Have you heard of The Legend?”

“About the five destructive Monsters that almost annihilated the whole entire world?”

“Yes. But things weren’t that clear.”

“I’ll explain it to you. The High Priestess from that time sealed them away by using five people’s body as the container and she as the sealer. She took off the Blood of the five monsters and sealed it in her while the Monsters were sealed in each of those people’s body. But it wasn’t completely safe. The Monsters and the Blood came back in their descendants. Never had the five Monsters born at the same era. Never the Blood had been born with the Monsters. It was safe for then. Now, all five Monsters had been reborn, and the Blood too.”

“And Elwynn Eleanor is the Blood.”

“Yes… If the five Monsters drank her blood, they will revive. If they killed her, they will also revive. The High Priestess cannot kill them. Her Blood would stop her from doing so.”

“Isn’t it obvious that we have to kill the Monsters?”

“It is, for the people of Kronos Sanctuary, Salkerye, and Walkure. The other three countries do not want to wait for another revival. They want to kill her immediately so that they will not have to worry about the Monsters killing her first.”

“I don’t really see the problem.”

“The problem is that we have always believed that the High priestess is the solution to all problems. They think that she is the sinned one and not the five monsters. ‘Destruction of the world, the Monsters or the Blood?’ It is because of this sentence.”

“But who is this ‘one’?”

“We don’t know.”

“Who are the five Monsters?”

            Elwynn couldn’t hear anymore of it. She always knew about her being the High Priestess but never knew that she was the cause of war. She just tended to forget about everything so that she could live normally. The five Monsters and the Blood… How odious it is…  The five Monsters will go after her life while she couldn’t do anything about it. This was fate… She was weak. She couldn’t fully control herself. The Blood within her was not hers. It always tended to go out of her body. The only thing that kept her in safety was her necklace. It had the power to seal off everything. Nevertheless, sometimes, the Blood went out of her, and she couldn’t control it. When that happened, people get killed, just like what happened a year ago. The only advantage she had with this Blood was that she was able to use her aura and made it a weapon.
