Initially I wasn't going to ride at Trentham as Morrocco was the weekend before and Greece the weekend after. With Morroco canceled and me being fairly happy with my preparations for Greece I decided to ride the Fast Eddy at the last minute. I decided about 8 o'clock the night before that I may as well ride round at the Fast Eddy and get some points. I didn't walk the course and my usual pit crew (Wyn Hughes) were working so I called upon a mate from work to fuel my bike.
The race started well with me riding the first lap in about 4th. It was clear that nobody wanted to lead as the pace was slow for the first few laps. I led for a little then let Ryan Voase lead for a while. I wasn't riding well at that pace and felt like I was riding into every bump so I passed Ryan again so I could ride at my own pace. I thought Juan would catch me but for three or four laps I kept the same gap, that is until I run out of fuel. Originally planning just one stop I then had to make two as my first stop was 15 minutes earlier than I would have liked. I pushed hard after my stop but dropped it twice in a lap. Not good. Several riders caught and passed me and the race went rapidly downhill from there as I still had my second stop to make and my camelbak had run out just after my first stop.
I think Wayne Braybrook won from Jason Fraser who was very strong in the second half. Ed Jones was third, Juan faded to fourth, Ryan Voase fifth, ? sixth and I was seventh just in front of Richard Hay.
