Review of literature shows that qualitative research enables the researcher to obtain in depth information, seek insights, understand and explain the research problems and issues. It is also essential in circumstances where quantitative approach is not suitable or the data cannot be quantified. This study intends to discuss the focus group method adopted in the study about attitudes of gender towards programs that are introduced by the management at the workplace. Since the study involves seeking insights into gender problems and issues, qualitative methods, such as interviews and the focus group technique, are employed to supplement quantitative methods because this can enhance the quality of the resulting analysis and confidence of the result. This paper will also discuss the advantages and disadvantages in implementing the focus group method in conducting the above study.
