Data analysis in qualitative research paradigm is an ongoing journey, which starts as soon as the data collection process begins.  In this method, analysis and data collection occurs in a pulsating fashion – first the interviews, then the analysis; observations, then the analysis; more interviews and observations, then the analysis and theory building, and it goes on.  Such a process of constant comparison of data and on-going analysis continuously shifts and reframes the themes of the study several times throughout the data collection and analysis process.
This paper narrates the evolution of themes that occurred during my case study research.  It presents a retrospective account of how my themes evolved in a case study of a principal and her role in creating a supportive work climate for her teachers’ instructional improvement.  It illuminates how the use of the constant comparative method help to probe deeply into issues that may look superficial but has many facets and deeper meanings.  And the different facets pose multiple perspectives resulting in the shift in focus and evolution of themes.
