No Doubt history

Gwen Stefani was born in Orange County, California on October 3, 1969. As she was growing up she was  influenced by ska and punk music. She grew up with her Mom, Dad, two brothers (Eric and Todd), and one sister, Jill. The band No Doubt was formed in 1987. John Spence (singer) founded it, with Eric Stefani (keyboard) and his sister Gwen. At first, Gwen was only a chorus singer. Spence used to say "No doubt". That's why it's the name of the band. Spence commited suicide at the end of 1987. Thus, Gwen Stefani became the singer of the band. Tony Kanal joined the band in spring of 1987. Tony was attending a No Doubt contest. The band was searching for a bassist so Tony joined No Doubt. Gwen Stefani used to date bass player in the band Tony Kanal. When they broke up, she wrote the hit single "Don't Speak" in memory of their relationship. About Tony, Gwen said: "Basically, I forced Tony to make out with me. This was 1987, we had been in the band only for a few months together. He didn't even like me and I made him kiss me. Then I forced him to go out with me for seven years. He broke up with me..." Gwen Stefani currently dates Bush singer, Gavin Rossdale. After leaving his sister's group, Tom Dumont joins No Doubt. Adrian Young also joins the band. In March 1992, No Doubt releases their first album. Only 30 000 copies were sold. In 1993, No Doubt begins the first sessions for their forthcoming album Tragic Kingdom. In 1994, Eric Stefani departs before the completion of Tragic Kingdom. The band releases a second independent album, "The Beacon Street Collection" in 1995. In the same year, No Doubt released the album that made them famous worldwide: "Tragic Kingdom". The name of this album comes from Disney, that is the "Magic Kingdom". However, to live in Disney's shadow is disillusionment. More than 15 millions copies of this album were sold. A brand new album, named "Return of Saturn", is released as of April 11, 2000.
