Esther Grand Chapter,
Order of Eastern Star, the auxiliary and adopted
body of the Most Worshipful Prince Hall Grand Lodge, Free and
Accepted Masons, Louisiana Jurisdiction, was organized January 12,
1938 in the city of New Orleans, Louisiana. The organization received
its charter on December 4, 1954.
Esther Grand Chapter had a mere 10 chapters at its inception. We can
now proudly boast of more than 160 chapters and a continuous growing
membership of more than 6000. Through our Youth Fraternities, we
provide our young people with guidance that helps to build character and
self-esteem while providing them with recreational outlets. Annually,
we contribute more than $50,000 to Camp Chicota which is jointly owned
by the Most Worshipful Prince Hall Grand Lodge of Louisiana and Esther Grand Chapter .
Each year a donation is made to a Charitable Organization in the
city hosting our Grand Session. We also recognize the civic, service and
charitable accomplishments of our members and award scholarships to
local deserving students.
Esther Grand Chapter owes much to its capable leadership of the past.
Our Past Grand Worthy Matrons are: Mrs. Minerva G. Minor, Mrs.
Mary McGriff Bell, Mrs. Esther Lee Meadors. Our Past Grand Worthy
Patrons include: Mr. J.J. Coleman, Mr. Edgar Wiley, Mr. John Dawson,
