Mayor Harmes Sicat Sembrano came from a prominent political
family in Gerona, whose
ancestors had served as Mayor and in many other public offices. His
well-loved father, Rolando or Rolly, served this town as Mayor for
twenty years.
Mayor Sembrano was born March 9, 1964.
He is an alumni of the San Beda College in which he earned a degree on
BS Commerce.
This is already his second
term as Mayor, and has also served twice
as Provincial Board Member, and once as an
ex-officio municipal councilor (KB Federation
President). He is now the Vice President of the
League of Municipalities of the Philippines -
Tarlac Chapter (LMP - Tarlac) and President of
the Boy Scout of the Philippines - Tarlac
Council.
He has also served
in the past as Grand Knight of the Knights of
Columbus and President of the Rotary Club of Paniqui.
He has
sponsored various developmental, environmental,
health and livelihood programs that envisions to
propel Gerona to its modest goals.
Mayor Sembrano's
primary concern is to ensure peace and order thru an active campaign
against drug addiction and other forms of criminality.
He has moved to promote local products like the
muscovado in Barangay Malayep, onions from the
western barangays, and lanterns from Barangay
Caturay. The Sembrano administration has also
pioneered many helpful programs like the
implementation of the Zero Waste Management
Program, the installation of Information
Systems in local government offices and the
launching of this website, among other projects.
Mayor Sembrano is
also known as a sports and fitness buff.
He plays basketball, tennis and table tennis.
He has also proved his shooting skills as he has
won several provincial and regional shooting
competitions.
