The
History of
Wire wrap
The orgin of the ancient art of wire wrap is not know exactly how, where, or when it all began. It is known that over 5,000 years ago the egiptian and phoenician craftsmen practiced this art. Which also indicates that our ancestors wore the gold wire wrapped jewelry. The pharaoh's adorned themselves with it. there have been pieces of uniquely wire wrapped gold jewelry found in Egiptian structures known as pyramids and found in the tombs of pharaohs.

Because of technology our jewelry of today is made and designed mostlly by casting and soldering. wire wrap jewelry is the only metal jerelry (gold, silver, brass, copper) that is not melted down and poured into molds (casting and soldering).

This art has been lost for years and has just recently (in the last 25 to 30 years) become popular once again. The many, many designs that can be made with the wire never ends. The possibilities of the design can stretch as far as the imagination of the artist can carry it.
