We at E-groups were so excited when Ate Data texted us that Chynna Ortaleza agreed for an interview despite of her sooo busy schedule. Me, Nick, Joan, Mike and Empoy went to the Probe Productions headquarters one Monday afternoon and met the very down to earth shining star. At first, we were all nervous. Pero sobrang kalog ni Chynna kaya nagging maganda naman ang interview naming. We were really star strucked though, but the Chynna we saw on t.v. during her 5andup days is still the same sweet and outspoken person.

WHAT YEAR DID YOU JOIN 5ANDUP? “ It was 1995…I was 12 then”

WHAT DO YOU MISS ABOUT 5ANDUP? “ Marami… una sa lahat, V.O. (voice over), kasi sa 5andup ako lang ang batang mahilig sa V.O. (laughs). Siyempre yung mga kaibigan ko, sina Atom, sina Ian… kasi I can be myself with them. Yung mga stories din siyempre…”

MOST MEMORABLE STORY? “ Yung first, smokey mountain story. Two months pa lang ako sa 5andup non… parang na-shock ako. Pero I realized na they’re also like us, it’s just that their surroundings are different. Second, Batanes, that was my favorite out of town trip. Dun kasi na-cement yung friendship naming nina Atom at Ian. Tapos Boracay, kasi ang ganda-ganda don. Last yung Korea, kasi kami ang gumawa no’n ni Jolly. Naexperience ko yung hirap ng reporter slash producer”.

FAVORITE STORY? “ Alam mo, sa sobrang dami, sa sobrang different nung mga stories, halos lahat, parte na naming, kasi lahat yun nagbigay sa amin ng bagong kaalaman…”

MOST MEMORABLE PERSON IN 5ANDUP? “ I have two, and that’s Atom and Ian. They are my best friends. Marami kasi kaming napagdaanan, ‘di lang dito sa 5andup, pati pagkatapos. We grew up together.”

FAVORITE ROLE NA GINAWA MO SA 5ANDUP? “ Yung alien ako (she forgot the name). Nagsosolve ako ng environmental problem. Yung merong hat na may star. Tsaka Prof. VonChynnastein…” (Nick and Mike were surprised when Chynna shared that she loves to read Anne Rice’s novels.) Acting and dancing also rings the bell on the things that she’s fond of doing due to her work. But media works such as production is close to her heart. “ I want to go back to Probe and work as a 5andup producer…”

THING THAT YOU WANT TO DO BUT YOU CAN'T? "Mag sky dive. Kasi since bata pa ako, gusto kong gawin yon. Pati diving, kasi i'm afraid of water...( nagulat kami kasi 'diba she went diving with Atom and Ian for a story, pero she admitted that she was so scared during the dive."Kala ko mamamatay na'ko non...")

WEIRD THING ABOUT YOU NA O.K. LANG MALAMAN NG IBA? "Hangggang ngayon nagbi-bite pa rin ako ng nails ko..."

SONG THAT WOULD REPRESENT YOU AND WHY? "Drive" ng Incubus. Yun ang meron ako e... sometimes yung fear yung nagsasabi sa akin na, 'di wag na lang, naisip ko na pag 'di ko yon na-conquer, walang mangyayari sa akin..."

HOW DOES IT FEEL WORKING WITH VETERAN ACTORS AND ACTRESSES? " It's nice 'cause since i'm just a newcomer, i was surprised cause i thought since their good actors and actresses, feeling ko mga snob sila, But they're very supportive..."

DREAM ROLE? " Ewan ko ha, pero feeling ko, pag naging maldita ako, sobrang effective, Siguro make-up-an lang nila ako ng makapal-kapal ok na. Never nila akong binigyan ng role na masama. Gusto ko ring maging witch..."

PERSON YOU LOOK UP TO? " Siguro, my mommy. She's always been there for me. Siguro, without her, i wouldn't be Chynna. Pagtanda ko sana tulad ko rin siya."

HOW DO YOU HANDLE PRESSURE? " I don't know...'di ko na lang iniisip kasi pag inisip ko lalo akong walang nagagawa".

FANS FROM 5ANDUP? " Actually, yung mga nag-aaproach sa akin mga old people na e. sinssabi nila na napapanood daw ako ng anak nila sa 5andup dati..." ---fact: " lahat ng suweldo ko sa 5andup, napunta sa Magazines"

WHAT IS IT NOW ACTING ON T.V.? " I'ts different compared before sa 5andup kasi sa 5andup, we can be ourselves lang. Mas mahirap kasi minsan kahit pagod na pagod ka, kailangan mo pa ring umarte..."

HOW PREPARED ARE YOU FOR SHOWBIZ? " Actually, hindi ko alam kasi kapapsok ko pa lang. Siguro konti kasi marami na ring nagsasabi sa akin na mag-ingat".

IS THRERE A DOWNSIDE IN SHOWBIZ? " Of course, there is. Downside when you're judge as a person you appear on t.v., parang 'di ka nila nakikilala as yourself...pero kung nakikita ko naman na maraming nakaka-appreciate sa akin, yun naman yung upside.

IS IT TRUE YOU DROPPED SCHOOL? " No, I'm an irregular student... I just dropped subjects because of my work."

ANO BA ANG NA-MI-MISS NA GINAGAWA MO NUNG WALA KA PA SA SHOWBIZ? "Siguro yung time na isang araw wala akong ginagawa tambay lang ako. Tapos usually, umaalis ako kasama friends ko."

HAVE YOU EVER BEEN STARSTRUCKED? " Sa local si Michael V., sobrang tuwang-tuwa ako sa kanya! Sobrang talented kasi nya."

SA FOREIGN? "Ay sus! Nick Carter! di ba sobrang crush ko nga sya, so pumunta ako sa mga mall shows nila... nakita ko sya, as in! natulala ako! (with the demo of how starstrucked she was, its funny!)

ANONG NAG-CONVINCE SAYO PARA PUMASOK SA SHOWBIZ? "Actually, it was my own decision, if the opportunity knocks it doesn't come again... I also want to help if I have enough money then I can put myself to school, then my parents don't have to worry about me.

FACT: Crush niya si Atom when she was 14 & she doesn't have any acting workshop since she started in showbiz.
