2004 DINING IN/DINING OUT -
All members of the 84th Division, past and present,
were invited to the "Dining In/Dining Out", a very entertaining
evening with a long and colorful history in military circles. This year’s
festivities were held at Elm Grove’s Western Racquet Club; the guest speaker
was MG Charles E. Gorton, Commander, 84th Division. The comaradarie, humor,

MEMORANDUM FROM: JOHN J. SENK, JR ADJUTANT
GENERAL
VETERANS OF FOREIGN WARS OF THE UNITED STATES
TO: Department Adjutants
I am pleased to announce that Vermont American and Veterans of Foreign Wars
(VFW) have joined together to launch a new program, Unmet Needs. Unmet
Needs is a joint effort between VFW, VFW Foundation and Bosch Tool Company
that will provide assistance to meet the unmet needs of active duty
military personnel. Bosch Tool has committed to a $1.25 million five-year
sponsorship of this program.
According to the Department of Defense, our country has over 700,00
military spouses across the services -- 93% of them women. Nearly half of
those are married to enlisted members who make less than $20,000 a year in
basic pay. When Reservists are included, these average yearly pay amounts
reach alarming lows.
The VFW Foundation developed the Unmet Needs Program:
* To help meet those unanticipated demands on the lives of our service
members' families that can't be remedied in a timely and effective manner
through existing means.
* To provide our service members with the security of knowing that their
families have additional support here at home.
* To give Americans like you the opportunity to reach out and help the
families of those serving our nation.
For those families in need, the VFW Foundation provides several easy ways
to apply for help:
* Online applications and downloadable applications at www.unmetneeds.com
* Direct phone assistance at 1-866-789-need, the national headquarters of
the VFW Foundation.
Commissary cards are no
longer necessary - just use your military ID to shop on post.
