Tae Kwon Do means two Feet, Two Hands, And Mind Working Together In Harmony. The origins of Tae Kwon Do are over two thousand years old and its teachings incorporate suppleness, speed, power, patience, and also require endurance. A Tae Kwon Do stylist is known for their power and various kicking abilities which takes a great deal of flexibility to perform. Therefore we emphasize stretching everyday to keep your hips, back, groin, and hamstrings muscles loose and limber. It also teaches various hard and soft blocking and parrying techniques using an arching circular motion to change the direction of an oncoming attack. Tae Kwon Do is also recognized as a fighting sport event throughout the world. It was introduced as a demonstration sport in the 1988 Olympics, which were held in Seoul, Korea, and is a competitive sport throughout the world. Tae Kwon Do was introduced as an Official Sport in the 2000 Olympics.
This class is open to all ranks above white.  (This is a mandatory class for students in the Yong Moo Taekwondo Program).  This class focuses on the striking nature of Taekwondo.  Strictly blocks, strikes, and kicks are practiced.  The intent is to develop the kicking and punching ranges of self-defense.  The class is conditioning intensive and physically demanding.  As rank appropriate the full range of hand and kicking techniques is learned.  Hand techniques range from basic single-handed blocks and strikes to double-handed multiple strikes and blocks.  Kicking techniques will range from the 7 basic kicks to full jumping 360/540/720 kicks.  Taekwondo Sparring oriented drills will also be practiced
