Classical Highlights Itinerary

Eight Days

Day 1:  Arrival

Day 2:  The Egyptian Museum and the Citadel of Saladin with its mosque (Mohamed Ali)

Day 3:  Giza Sphinx and pyramids, Saqqara pyramids and the ancient capital of Memphis

Day 4:  Travel to Aswan.  Felucca ride around Elephantine and Kitchener’s Island (botanic garden), visit to the Nubian Village.  Visit the Aswan souq at night.

Day 5:  Visit Philae Temple, Aswan High Dam, and the unfinished obelisk in the morning; sail to Kom Ombo and visit the temple of Sobek and Horus in the afternoon.

Day 6:  Visit Edfu Temple in the morning, sail to Luxor in the afternoon

Day 7:  Visit Luxor's West Bank (Valley of the Kings, temple of Queen Hatshepsut, Collosi of Memnon) in the morning; visit Luxor's East Bank (Karnak and Luxor temples)  in the afternoon.

Day 8: Travel back to Cairo for departure home.>

Note: It is also possible to extend this itinerary into a total of 12 days by doing a 7 night Nile Cruise in Upper Egypt (Luxor and Aswan), or by adding a cruise on Lake Nasser.
