This week we learned about BUTTERFLIES AND CATERPILLARS.
Books we read:
The Crunching Munching Caterpillar, by Sheridan Cain and Jack Tickle
The Very Hungry Caterpillar, by Eric Carle
Projects we did:
Caterpillars
We painted egg cartons and then added eyes and pipe cleaner antennae.
Butterflies
We decorated butterfly wings with tissue paper and used pom-poms to make the body.
Butterfly Paintings
First we painted only one half of our papers. Then we folded them in half to make symmetrical butterfly wings.
What we learned:
We learned that caterpillars are baby butterflies. Baby caterpillars eat a lot of food, and then they make a cocoon. When they come out of the cocoons they are not caterpillars anymore. They are beautiful butterflies.
Please note that if your child doesn’t come every day, he or she may not have done all of the projects that week.
