Hope you all had a great Holiday and are in full swing in 2001 and in Girl Scouting!

Treasurers Report

Cookie Time!  Reminder.....the girls are not to go door to door!!!  There have been several reports of this.  It is a base rule and also for the safety of the girls.  Cookie ordering time is over January 20th.  Troops need to have their order to Erica by the 23rd, no later than 5pm.

Training....Do you or an adult in your troop need CPR/First Aid training?  If so, contact Kathy.  Another class will be set up if there is enough response.

Thinking Day  Now is the time to start your Thinking Day Presentation if you haven't already.  This year it will be at the YC on Feb 24th 4-6.  Passports for the girls to visit each country will be provided.  Each troop will need a stamp or sticker that represents your country to validate the passports when your country is visited.  You are asked to provide a small food sample from your country for each girl.  Swaps are optional this year, but FUN!  Again, 5 cents per girl for each table they visit will be collected for the Juliette Low World Friendship Fund.  Each troop should have some kind of container to collect the money in.  Each troop will need to bring their own table for their presentations.  If your troop does not have a country yet, contact Ronda.  Here is a list of the countries that were drawn:

Brownie Event Day   Jan. 19th is the last day to sign up at the council.  the event will be held at Ryan Middle School on Feb. 3rd.  The fee if $3 per girl.

Mukluk Articles are due to council by Jan. 18th

Council News---Cookie booth sign ups for downtown locations are on January 16th.  You may sign up for 2 time slots at this time.  Also on Jan. 30th, you may sign up for three slots.  The would be for businesses like Safeway, Bentley Mall and most likely Fred Meyers stores.  If you are interested show up early!!!

Have Cadettes?  Program Aide Training is going to be offered.  Contact Michelle at the council for more information.

Council is looking for dedicated adults to become First Aid/CPR trainer.  Call council for more info.

Scout Night at the Hockey Game!  UAF Hockey Scout Night is Sat. Jan. 27th @ 7pm.  Scouts are free, adults $3.00.  This is a fun troop event, don't forget permission slips!!

Equipment--There are missing items from the equipment room and kitchen at the council.  Please return them if you have them.

Recognitions--Leaders & Asst. Leaders!!  Check out the Leadership Development Pin!  It offers a pin and you receive leaves to go on it as your training hours add up!  Council encourages you to do this.

Palmer Encampment-This is a state wide event open to girls from Bridging Brownies(4th grade) on up.  It is held at the Palmer State Fair Grounds from June 14-17.  This event is held every other year, so if you are planning to attend, make your plans now!  Troop 56 went last time and recommends that you go because it's a blast!  The # for the Susitna Council who put this on is 1-800-478-7448.  They can send you a packet of what's going on.  Some of the things offered last time were:  troops photos, t-shirts, wall climbing, swaps (big time), bungee-jumping, lamas, small animal care, photography, basket weaving, river dancing, hayrides and so much more....

Our next meeting will be Feb. 5th.
