Eielson Leaders' Meeting
November 6, 2000
No new trainings will be done until after the first of the year by the council. It is still undecided if another outdoor training will be done.
Patches for songfest will be purchased and so will a patch for the flag burning if one can be found. If anyone knows of such a patch please contact Erica.
Council office will be closed on Nov. 9 for training. The age level training scheduled for that night is still on.
Patches are being researched for anyone who turned in a Pageant of Peace Ornament
Operation Warm heart will be Friday Nov. 10 1-7pm and Sunday Nov. 12, 11am-5pm. A sign-up sheet was passed around. If you did not sign up and would like to, please contact Ronda. Girls will have out papers at the entrance explaining what we are doing and collect the food at the exit. Take the food home with you and Ronda will collect it to deliver to the First Shirts Assoc.
It was decided that articles for both songfest and operation warm heart will be submitted to the Mukluk on Nov. 15 from Eielson Service Unit. Any other articles troops would like to submit need to be in by Nov. 15.
Calendars can be picked up and patches are available for $ .30 each at the council.
Christmas party was discussed. The tree lighting ceremony here on base was dropped as an idea for the party (due to lack of interest), so other suggestions were taken. An idea for having party and inviting friends (handicapped) from the Resource Center downtown to come and celebrate with us was proposed. There would be games, crafts, caroling and more. A location is still needed and other suggestions are welcome. call or email Erica or Ronda.
The next leaders meeting will be De. 4 and will be a Leaders' Christmas Party. Leaders and co-leaders are welcome, but just adults please. We will have a ham (thank you Erica) and everyone is asked to bring a side dish to share. In addition, we will have an ornament exchange so bring a wrapped (or brown paper bagged) ornament under $5 with you to Ronda's house. We also have older girls who are available to baby-sit for service hours (that means free!). If you need someone to watch your kids for this event, contact Mary.
It was also decided that food and/or swaps would be done for Thinking Day and each troop will need a passport. Each troop should have a sticker or stamp to represent their country. A nickel will be collected from each girl as she visits each country. Nickels go to the Juliette Low World Friendship Fund.
