Executive Instruments’ Digital DME Modification for

the Collins 331A-6A; -6P; -6D; and -8G H.S.I. Indicators.

This modification provides digital display of DME or INS distance information on your existing 331A series HSI indicator. The existing synchro driven distance display is removed and replaced with a 3-digit DVF digital display. The new display and associated power supply fit within the space occupied by the old display, and weights less. There is no additional cost in weight, volume, power requirements, connectors, or additional equipment, and a minimum of aircraft wiring changes. Reliability is increased by elimination of the A-to-D converter. The input is any ARINC 568 DME or 561 INS word. In DME mode, the display indicates miles at any distance greater than 100 NMI, and automatically switches to XX.X (tenths-of-mile) display at distances of less than 100 NMI.
