Observe – The underwater world is amazing , however, it wouldn’t be as nice if some of it’s living components were missing. Shells are home to many sea animals. The collecting of shells and corals is banned in the Red Sea. For mementos, consider underwater photography.
Respect – Out of curiosity we may feel a compulsion to touch, feed or even chase marine animals. These actions cause stress to the animals and interrupt their natural behavior which in turn cause them to strike out. Sea Urchins have sharp spikes as their defene. It is painful but not dangerous to get stung. Lionfish have poisonous spines on their fins which should be avoided. The Scorpion fish is venomous as well as the Ston fish. They are excellent in the art of comouflage, a good reason to keep off the sandy bottom.
Aware – By being aware of what is around us at all times in the water, we can avoid hitting or striking corals by mistake. Pay special attention to fin action. This is easily forgotten as we rest in the water. Divers take note: it is reccomended to practice good buoyancy control in a coral free area before exploring the actual reef and be sure to always keep a distance of 1.5 meter above floor bed or/and corals.Check your equipment thoroughly; make sure that dangling items such as pressure gauges or spare regulators do not drag. Keep an eye on your partner when diving. The law forbids knives and gloves in the water.
Littering – Plastic is a big problem in the sea. Dolphins and sea turtles that eat gelly fish often eat plastic bags by mistake. Their stomach blocked and they suffer a terrible death. If the bags are not eaten they reach the ocean floor. There they tangle into corals and suffocate or destroy the habitats of many sea animals. Please make sure your plastic bags are properly disposed in order to prevent them from blowing into the sea.
Sand
– If we raise a lot of sand near the corals, it will settle on them and
they will choke. While swimming refrain from disturbing the sand bed and
raising mud clouds in the water. Stay at least one meter above the sea
bed and try ascending gently when leaving the bottom so no sand is striied.
