Why
is it, that every headcoach is getting a nickname here?
Beckenbauer is the "Kaiser Franz", Vogts been the "Terrier". I´d like to believe, that a nickname has to have at least some meaning! As for "Sir"? I can´t picture Ribbeck that way. Depends on your point of view, huh?
Okay, so they are too old, uncoordinated, unmotivated, slow, .... point is, Ribbeck MADE them feeling like that (except for Matthäus and Kahn)!
Now the BILD (=SUN OR MIRROR)says:"Germany weeps!" Hah! Dancing for the joy of it is more likely. Maybe they fire Erich now! The coach can do a lot to help his team or vice versa!
Remember Otto Rehagel? This is the perfect counter-example (is there such a word in English?). Now he´s been to München, got fired in the blink of an eye, went to Dortmund. 1st year: Dortmund rose into 1st league. 2nd year: Dortmund won the German Championship. Eat your heart out, Bayern!
You´ve got to know, that Bayern is the most hated team in the league! It´s for being the goddamned richest Club in the country. For being arrogant to the most unbearable point and for being the record-champions that they are! Don´t we love underdogs!?
So Germany lost vs. England! Great! Now everybody going like:"We did well. Good game! Let ´em enjoy it for now, they waited for 34 years. It´s going to take that long again before they win again."
Bull!
Why didn´t England humiliate this team. With a little luck they won´t have another chance. Because we get another headcoach, put more money into the "Jugendarbeit" so we can recruit from a new, hungry and enthusiastic bunch of players! Look out world, we´re back again! AND THE POPE WILL BLESS BIRTH-CONTROL!
Enough of that!
Just read that England might be banned for its Hooligans. Now what did I say about these assholes before (sorry, no nicer way to put it!)? Doesn´t matter if it´s England or Germany. No team ought to be banned for its so called "supporters"!
Football... Oh man, this is so embarassing! It´s not enough for Ribbeck, to come out as a total fool just after the last match.

I won´t try to translate this bull!
I´ve got to understand at least a part of it to do that!
Radio stations were doing call-ins "What is Ribbeck trying to tell us?!". I bet somebody´s been weird enough to count the subjektives and objektives. I don´t really want to know.
The day after (no pun intended!) the team had to train near Aachen. In Breining (or so). No, I never heard of it before. Funny thing is, it´s the home of Igidius Braun, chief of the DFB (Deutscher Fußball Bund)?! They had about twenty security-people, who were trying to push about 6.000 (SIXTHOUSAND!) fans out of the field! I didn´t know, there were so many fans left in Germany.
The team started it´s training about an hour later, even though the field´s condition was less than poor - so Bierhoff gets injured and will not be able to participate ´till the end of the tournament. As if Germany will make it to the final!
And today Ribbeck told us in his wisdom, who will participate vs. England AND LOTHAR METHUSALEM IS GOING TO BE IN FROM THE VERY BEGINNING! This is neither stubborn nor some kind of tactical trick -THIS IS STUPID!
Des Kelly was writing an article in the STERN as well. He´s normaly writing for the Daily Mirror and was asked to write about the English-German-Football-relationship (there is one?).
I wouldn´t want to do that!
So there´s Holland and England. Both teams are always one major pain in the ass for the "normal-German-fan". England even more so, since we are still doubting the "Wembley-Goal" from 200 years ago.... Back to Kelly - "... It´s easier to find fat-free-cooking in Germany than big victories in England´s football history..." or: Lineker´s comment, why he thinks, England is going to win against Germany. "I just have the feeling, it´s our turn this time..." Kelly´s saying that England´s too complacing - AGAIN! Even though they tend to get out through penalty shooting ;-), there hasn´t been any training for this during their preparation-time...
On the other hand, he´s right about the average age in the German team. "...most of them being older than Ronald Reagan..."
Boy, do I hate Lothar M. or what?!

Don´t get me wrong here, he´s still believing/hoping, that Englands gonna win.
I would like that, even though it´s just because I believe that Germany´s got to lose to get humbled. Therefore they might to take football again as a game and not as a biz.
I feel sorry for them! It must be hard to be that arrogant and lose one game after the other? Is there somebody out there, to tell them, how awfull they really are. Fat chance! ...as if they would listen!

He made a famous statement about the kind of football we are playing nowadays. It´s very funny, coz he´s Italian and worked himself into some kind frenzy during his statement....
Now officials are very afraid of hooligans. There will be one major security effort going down for each and every match. Hopefully they can kick these bastards out.
That´s one reason why I can´t stand football anymore.
It all comes down to violence, which I deeply despise! Haven´t heard about a major fight breaking out during the NBA play-offs (at least not when Rodman´s sick at home).
