For those of you who are wondering just who Lori Powers is...this page should satisfy your curiousity. August 2000: I created this site over 3 years ago and this is the first time I have updated this page. I've changed a great deal in the last 3 years and have learned a lot. I'm going to start with the basics...
Name: Lori Marie Powers Location: Romeoville, IL
About Me: I was born on May 12, 1968. We moved to Romeoville when I was 2 and I've basically lived here my whole life. It may be a small town, but I like it here. Most of my family lives nearby. I am currently enrolled at Robert Morris College and will have my degree in web design in December 2001. Hobbies and Interests: My main hobbies are music and writing. I created Eternal Jam so that I could combine my two favorite things to do and also to give many great bands the exposure they deserve. I really didn't discover how much I loved writing until I took a Journalism class in 10th grade. I loved it so much I took it in 11 and 12 grade also. I was the assistant editor of the school newspaper for the last 2 years of school. And to make it even better, I met my best friend in that class (and she's still my best friend after 17 years). My love of music was apparent way before that. I believe I was in 6th grade when I really started getting into Rock n' Roll. I also enjoy reading (which I don't find time for very often), spending time with my children and learning new things. I am one of those people who constantly loves to learn new things and take on new challenges.
My Family: I have 3 sons (ages 14, 12 and 6), and a beautiful baby girl (almost 4). I guess she's not really a baby anymore, but she'll always be my baby. The kids are great but I'm definitely ready for summer to be over and school to start. My husband's name is Donald (though most people call him Rob). We went to school together for most of our lives, and have known each other for a long time. We will celebrate our 7th anniversary on Sept 4, 2001. I have one brother, and the greatest Mom in the world (Dad's not so bad either)

Favorite bands: It's hard to pick favorites, especially when they are constantly changing. I like a wide variety of music from agressive to poppy (depends on the mood). Right now I'd say my favorites are Ozzy, Metallica, Godsmack, Warrant, Dokken, Great White, LA Guns, Sedona, Scorpions, Ratt, Danger Danger, A Perfect Circle, Dangerous Toys, Union, Matchbox Twenty, Megadeth, and many many more. I love most "glam" bands and heavy metal. Music is not just a hobby for me it is more of a passion. I have a very large CD/Tape/Album collection. If I was to win a shopping spree at any store, I would choose a record shop. I could spend the day in one (not to mention a lot of money). Since I started E.J. I have discovered many many great "little known" bands that deserve to be noticed. This is why I try to include as many unsigned bands in each issue as possible.
About Eternal Jam: The magazine started out in Nov. of 1994, almost 6 years ago. It's been A LOT of hard work, but I love it. Six years ago, Rn'R was pretty much on the backburner. There were so few magazines that covered my favorite bands anymore and it was hard to find information on them. Most of the information that is included in Eternal Jam comes from online. My staff (of great volunteers) includes a CD Reviewer (Kevin Brown) and a concert reviewer/photographer/news gatherer/etc. (Rob Piecuch). Don't know what I would do without either of them. I appreciate them to death. All three of us are definitely not in this for the money...but for our love of music. Ive gotten to know a lot of great musicians since we started. Some of my favorites (personality-wise) include: Johnny Crypt, David Van Landing, Johnny Lee Middleton, Rick Steier, Bruno Ravel, Steve West, Shawn McCabe, The FireHouse guys, John Christ, etc... The music biz is a very fickle one. Being in a band is one of the hardest professions. One day you're hot, the next your not. One day your treated like gold and the next like yesterdays trash. I have a deep respect for anyone who can stick it out in this business. I am most impressed with a friendly musician with a great attitude. It is this type of person that makes me want to support the band in any way possible. I do not have a problem with bands experimenting with different sounds. Change can definitely be a good thing. I am never one to cry "sellout." The best CDs are those where a band experiments a little but still stays true to their roots on some songs. I have many things planned for Eternal Jam in the future. I want it to be all that it can be and I'm always open for suggestions. I am quite proud of the improvements and what the magazine has become in the last 3 years. We plan to stick around for a long long time. Drop Me A Line!!!
