Julie Garrard

Name: Julie Garrard

Date of Birth: 11 May 1961

Age: 40

Home Town: Southwick near Brighton

Club: I coach for local league and assist at national league. I am the U17 South East regional boys coach.

Position: Chief cook, bottle washer and mother figure (well thats how I would describe my figure!)

Shirt Number: Don't have one, its all writing

Measurements:

Height: would like to be taller

Weight: Not answering that!

Other Interests: I dont have time with all the volleyball, but do like walking and cycling in the country when I have time and before my knee was crook liked hill walking and staggering up mountains.

Biopic: Started at school with all my freinds because we fancied the teacher. Moved on to local league for early 20's played a few second team games with Ashcombe 2 at age 25 when I first got any decent coaching, then played 3rd division with the newly formed Sussex division 3 team until age 33, despite bearing child in the middle of that. Then coached the sussex squad in the county cup. After giving up playing I started coaching local league then lookd around for somewhere for my son to play. There were few facilities so I got involved in coaching juniors and was in the right place at the wrong time to get roped into all the other stuff I now do.

Honours: Played badly for county

Best Moment: Playing in a locally famous mixed 3v3 indoor tourmament and coming third behind a couple of proffessional beach teams. Also several times winning the local league cup and knockout cup.

Worst Moment: When I was 33 years old the coach said after a match "I need more from u all" my reply was, "I cant give anymore" so I knew it was time to stop due to all the injuries I had sustained. I did not even go back to playing local league - almost the worst moment in my life not just in volleyball.
