What follows is an extremely brief explanation of my experience with the very powerful and complex art of pranic healing. Pranic healing is the first energy or vibrational medicine I used, and I still find myself using many of the principles and techniques quite often. It is very powerful and effective.
Prana means universal life force or life energy. It exists everywhere in the universe. It is variously called qi, chi, and ki as well as going by several other names.
The theory behind pranic healing is health problems are caused by energy excess or depletion in an area of the body energy field. By using their hands to feel the aura of the client, the healer is able to locate these highs or lows in the aura.
Generally, the healer starts at the head and sweeps down the body with the intention of smoothing and untangling the aura. This usually requires several sweeps that roughly follow the meridians. A controlling factor in pranic healing is the intention of the healer. I usually use cupped hands for smoothing the aura and spread fingers for untangling. This gives me physical actions to attach to the intentions.
According pranic healing theory, the aura contains threads or veins running from the inner energy field outward. The purpose of these threads is to allow contaminated prana to flow out of the aura. These threads, in a diseased area, may become entangled and the contaminated prana will not flow away. Untangling these threads allows the prana to flow away for more efficient energy exchange.
Although it can seem difficult at first, with practice, it becomes extremely easy to locate highs and lows in the aura and tangles in the pranic threads. The more one works with the energy field, the more sensitive one becomes. Sometimes a few quick sweeps in an area and a slight untangling are all that is necessary to make the client feel noticeably better.
When doing the sweeping, the healer throws the contaminated prana away, usually into a bucket of salt water or a flame. The contaminated prana then can be flushed away down the toilet, psychically burned, or otherwise disposed of. If left undisturbed, it will dissipate on its own in a matter of hours. Contaminated prana must be handled with care, so others aren't contaminated by it.
When performing a pranic healing, the healer doesn't use their own prana. The healer takes in outside prana and projects it to the client. The healer generally has a sending hand and a receiving hand. Prana is drawn into the receiving hand and projected from the sending hand. With more work the healer may learn to send prana with both hands and receive through one of the chakras such as the crown chakra. The healer does not deplete their personal prana.
The healer can also adjust the size and spin of the client's chakras to balance them. This adjustment is achieved by intending to change the size of the chakras and physically going through the motions of adjusting them.
After the initial sweeps a complete scan of the body is taken during which the healer finds the highs and lows in the client's aura. The highs are then removed by scooping out the excess prana and disposing of this excess. Lows are repaired by projecting either white or colored prana into the low area. The type of prana projected into an area is determined by the purpose of the prana, different colors having different physiological effects. Adding and removing prana are continued until the aura feels smooth and balanced.
Choa Kok Sui of the Philippines has organized the information into a very precise methodology and written several books on the subject. These books are well written and well illustrated and contain a cookbook approach to dealing with several different diseases. There are several classes offered around the world by his institute.
I have used pranic healing with excellent results, however, there are a few principles involved that I'm uncomfortable with:
