William Curry Holden


William Curry Holden is an archeologist, historian, teacher, and author who is a Texan and a Southwesterner with an affinity for Mexico -- Mexican history, women, and archeology . Dr Holden has been associated with Texas Tech University as professor of history, dean of archeological and social science research, and founder and director if its museum since 1929. Between 1934 and 1958, he lead numerous expeditions to study the Yaqui Indians of Mexico. He has conducted numerous excavations in Mexico, New Mexico, and Texas. He has contributed extensively to scholorly journals and written twelve books dealing with Mexico and the Southwest. He has received many honors for his writing and research as well as for historic preservation and cultural achievement.
