Born on January 28, 1981, Elijah Wood has always been a happy-go-lucky lad spouting with talent. At a very early age he showed remarkable abilities and interest in the performing arts. He was in his school choir and became a child model. Soon after his acting abilities were discovered and put up on the big screen. His energy and charisma made him one of the most talented child actors ever to hit the movies. His innocence and charm landed him major roles next to big Hollywood head honchos. Now 21, it looks like young Elijah Wood is finally growing up, though doing it a hell of a lot more gracefully than other child/teen stars. Modest and sweet, he still lives with his mother, Debra Wood, and spends his free time like any other normal guy out there. At home he's just like anybody else. "I'm incredibly lazy," says Wood. "At home my mom does all the cooking and such, and she even does all my laundry. I feel terrible about it, but laundry is such an art to her." Yeeeeaaaa, right. "It's like, I won't pick up anything for like a week and at the end of the week I come into the washroom with a huge pile of laundry. I'm extremely lazy. I rarely pick up after myself." Hnh, sounds like me (Yuffie) ::sweatdrop:: I'll say it does. Hey hey, shut up Yuna! Who asked you! Anyway... He says he'd like to cook, and "can do grilled cheese sanwiches and stuff, but that's pretty much it." A fan of the culinary arts, he wishes to be a cook. "I'm a real 'foodie'". *foodie? what the hell?!* Well, I suppose having his mother cook all his meals is better than him doing it himself. I mean, for god's sake he messed up pasta. Pasta for crying out loud! "Uh, yea, it came out all mushy. It was terribly embarassing, especially since I was cooking it for a girlfriend I had at the time." Ouch. |

Just like any other guy, Elijah mainly likes hanging out with his friends and going to music concerts. "Things that I do in my free time, I go to movies a lot and I'm a huge music fan so I go to see as many bands as I can see, which is great. I've seen a lot recently, which has been fantastic!" A big music fan, he said that if he had a chance to do another music video (he once starred in the Paula Abdul music video "Forever Your Girl" and appeared in the Cranberries music video "Ridiculous Thoughts") he would like to be in a Beastie Boys video. Says he, "They do fun videos. Anything directed by Spike Jonze is a cool thing." Though he's a big star (and would never ever admit it) he hates Hollywood attention. Much like his most recent roll, Frodo (the main character of The Lord of the Rings, which is, undoubtedly, the best movie in existence) Wood takes joy in the simple things in life. As stated above, he enjoys the culinary arts, music, but also likes reading, rollerskating, and enjoys fencing. Being the center of attention definitely isn't his topmost priority. "I find that the media attention on people's relationships is kind of annoying and disgusting. I don't want that to be a focus. I'm single at the moment, which is difficult 'cause I sort of enjoy the companionship of a lovely female." |

He tries to stay out of the media, but with the huge success of The Lord of the Rings: Fellowship of the Ring it has been kind of difficult. "I've never had a hit this huge before. Well actually, I've never had anything that's been number one, so this is great!" And number one it is. It stayed number one at the box office for four consecutive weekends after its release in theaters. But media attention just isn't Elijah's thing. "It's not my thing -- I don't really dig going to premieres that aren't something that I'm involved with. I find that quite silly." Hrm. Too bad....we'd really like to see more photos of him *sly grin* Ever modest about everything he does, Wood says, "People kind of reference the posters and being on the side of a building for the Gap ad that I did or whatever, like, 'Isn't that crazy?' And I'm like, 'Ah, well, you know…'" | ![]() |

The sweet and modest guy he is, Elijah Wood calls himself a sort of Geek, to a certain degree anyway. Why? "I'm a fan of films and a fan of music." Tch, so?? Here's what he had to say about the Frodo action figure: "It's actually really great [having my own action figure]. I was very scrutinizing. I had to make sure that it was absolutely perfect, and the feet were way too hairy. It looked like I had a rug on my feet (laughs). I wanted it to be as accurate as possible. I've been a fan of action figures for quite some time. I'm really into that kind of thing, so to have my own is really fun, it's really cool. It's kind of like a geek's dream come true (laughs)." Hey hey! Wouldn't anybody love to have an action figure of themselves (in FF garb, of course)?! He also considers himself a geek for his collection of Star Wars memorabilia, but hey! It's absolutely no different than being a hardcore Final Fantasy Freak like ourselves. Right? Uh....We....we don't know her. Definitely not. Gee, thanks for the backup. Screw you guys. Eewwie. Hey, Rinoa? Nani? Shut up. |
