
According to SOKO representantives, new engine supplied by them for this season, F1M01/2K, has more RPM than the previous one and it’s also significanctly lighter. These key features will allow FDM Velez SOKO team to be more competitive in the forecoming racing season.
The test comprised three days of frenetic
activity in and outside the pits. New suspension solutions and new UNIS
setup software were tested as well as the car stability in the ground.
At 10:00 AM, Friday 24th, the pits’ door opened and the new car weas first
sighted. Edin Kapic, Velez’s first driver, slowly took her out to the cold
Monza track. In this moment of utmost expectance, the engine roaring showed
that there was no need to worry, the new engine proved reliable during
the test.

The new design, notably similar to Marlboro McLaren late eighties’ cars, was also presented to the press for the first time. FDM, as the main sponsor, wants to promote its ‘white’ brands Drina and Trend this way.
After one lap of warm-up, Edin began to try the car and established the team track record, making 1:19:031 it the 4th lap. After the slow-down lap, he took ythe car back to the pits. The Friday test was over, with happy faces in the team.
Saturday and Sunday tests made little difference. Edin improved the lap time, making 1:19:018, with the new Sava slick tyres. At last, the Velez motorhome went away, expecting the January testing at Monaco with confidence. See you in Monte-Carlo, then, and Merry Christmas to all!
