The Murder Junkies

With the exception of Elvis and Jesus, folks seldom commemorate an individual's death. Unless that individual happens to be poo-flingin' shock-rocker G.G. Allin, whose passing a decade ago is memorialized for an entirely different reason: Most people were glad to see him go.

As the frontman for the Murder Junkies, Allin was known for performing naked, covered in his own feces, while physically attacking audiences like a badger with bad tattoos. If Allin's fists failed to leave you reeling, barely sung barbs like "Cunt Sucking Cannibal" and "Sleeping In My Piss" would surely get the job done. The Murder Junkies couldn't play any better than perpetually drunk and stoned Allin could enunciate, but this bunch was about violence anyway, not virtuosity. In this way, the band cast a long shadow over most of its puke-stained peers in the raw-rock underground.

After Allin died of a drug overdose in 1993, the Murder Junkies carried on with Antiseen frontman Jeff Clayton for a time, and then with Cleveland's own Mike Hudson, of Pagan's fame. In honor of the 10th anniversary of G.G.'s death, Clayton has reunited with the Murder Junkies for a tour that'll soon be hitting town - literally.
