I went to Nara this summer(1999). Actually, Nara is quite similar to Kyoto, full of "otera" (temples or shrine). However you can find deers walking along the road. Beware of these deers.. coz they will follow you wherever you go! And not only following you, they will sometimes bite your shirts too ! Hmm.. i'm scared of animals.. or i should say i have "kong ju gan" towards animals.. that's why, my heart was beating non stop the whole trip .. hehe.. these deers will just appear suddenly behind you!
Actually i was quite scared, but the deer was quite "obedient"..
