Stupid Runner Tricks
"Sometimes the best intentions backfire."

The shadowrun team had just started Double Exposure and was attempting the Aztechnology Van heist. The team had easily disabled the van and was quickly moving in for the kill. Bandit (an elven rigger), and Jym (a human street sam who was riding shotgun at the time), had pulled up behind the van in Bandit's armored vehicle. Axe, (a troll street sam), moved in to open up the van. He had a dikoted battle-ax and had intended on it opening the van like a tin can. Meanwhile, Widow had summoned a powerful nature spirit and had successfully confused all the Aztechnology opposition. El Saint, a human decker wanna-be, was hurriedly running towards the van, just in case he was needed. The heist was going pretty smooth until Axe tried to cut open the van. Unfortunately the van's armor held and the attempt disturbed one of the confused Aztechnology guards, who then realized what was going on enough to empty a full auto burst of SMG fire into axe. Axe went down, bleeding. A small fire fight ensued, as the guards faded in and out of their confused states. During the exchange of fire, El Saint attempted to pick the security doors on the van. It was during this time that Bandit was struck with an idea. He left his driver's seat and proceeded to the back of his vehicle. When Jym asked him what he was doing, bandit replied "something." Bandit returned to his seat with a flashpak just in time for El Saint to have finished picking the locks and was ready to open the doors. Tension mounted. Jym, attempted to ignore Bandit, trained his sights on the van's doors. Axe just kind a crawled away bleeding profusely. When El Saint flung the door open, Bandit through the flashpak. (I must point out that throwing a flashpak is not a real good idea) Unfortunately, when the pak went off, it was facing in both Jym's and Bandit's direction who were staring in the van. Sometime ago, the shadowrun team was hired to protect a farm in Snohomish from vicious ganger attacks. It was after midnight and Jym was on watch and was alerted to movement in the corn field. Jym alerted the rest of the team and proceeded to intercept the intruder. The intruder had several spells that helped him skulk around relatively undetected. A small chase ensued just after the rest of the team had show up and the intruder was located. The intruder attempted to flee, realizing that he was outnumbered by the defending shadowrun team. Unfortunately Widow could locate him and sent a field spirit to accident him. He tripped during the chase, at which time Jym was approximately 15 meters from his location and when he realized the intruder had stopped running he did too. Jym listened for any sign that the intruder may be near. Then he heard something hit the ground several meters away from him. Jym ran towards the sound and got in the area just in time to watch the grenade's delayed timer countdown to zero and explode. (Return to Top)
During a run in NAN, the shadowrun team had to bypass a very tall fence to get into an installation. Unprepared to deal with the possibility of an electric fence the team opted to climb near by trees and leap across. Everyone made it across and was waiting on Carnard, the decker. He leaped and missed. As he fell 10 or so meters he desperately tried to flap his arms to slow down. It didn't work and he died on impact. Fortunately Widow pulled him back from the light. On one run, the shadowrunners had broken into a facility to kidnap a scientist. Unfortunately the corporate security team, decked out in heavy armor and assault weapons was moving down the hallway to intercept the team. Reaver, wearing an armored jacket, stepped out from the doorway that was giving him cover to engage the security forces with only his Cyberarm SMG. He targeted the nearest one and fired a full burst. The shot missed completely. Reaver then became a bullet sponge for the incoming hail of fire. (Return to Top)
HOW MUCH ARE THOSE GEMS IN THE BRIEF CASE?
Once on a run, the shadowrun team managed to recover several million nuyen worth of gems. Naturally the team divided them equally among the participating members. Reaver, not having an appraisal skill took the gems to his Yakuza Boss. He acted like he wanted to sell them and when the Yakuza Boss offered him 250,000 for them he replied, "No thanks, I only wanted to see what they were worth." A few days later his apartment was mysteriously broken into and the gems stolen. (Return to Top)
One time the shadowrun team was leaving a small yakuza dive in Love Land. At this time the team consisted of all metahumans, and a single human: Jym. As the team left and made it towards their respective modes of transportation, a group of young yaks decided to show off for the girls of question morals that was working in the area at the time. The yaks surrounded the team and look at Jym and asked, "Why don't you go away and let us play with your metahuman friends". To which Jym responded, "Okay.". The rest of the shadowrun team stared at him, with hate in their eyes. Jym then proceeded to run across the street, without looking both ways and promptly got hit by a car. (Return to Top)
Once the team was down in South America hitting a corporate facility. The team had decimated the majority of the security forces and all that remained was taking the main building and clearing it out. Unfortunately the corporate security personal had time to prepare a surprise for the Shadowrunners. Reaver kicked in the door and rushed in only to discover that the security teams were ready and opened fire with burst fire shotguns. Reaver was cut down in the first exchange and crawled away with only 9 boxes of damage. On that day Reaver learned the true power of held actions. (Return to Top)
