Carvings by Members of the Outaouais Wood Carvers Club

Some beautiful carvings were on display at the Nepean Museum's Outaouais Wood Carvers Exhibit at the Nepean Museum.

Stella Murray shows off her carving skills. She is unbelievable at wood burning and painting. She is one of the best promoters of our Club. Stella's husband, Allan, carved the love spoons seen in the picture.

The beautiful fiqures and busts in this photo are by two of our best carvers, Boni Penna and Bruce Williams. See Boni's Web Site

Bruce Williams carved the top group and Phil Herbst carved the lower group of shorebirds. Phil is our resident expert on all types of decoys and has given very informative talks to our club on decoy history.

This very distintive and brightly coloured mask was also done by Phil Herbst, a very talented carver.

We have two resident Santa experts in our Club, Dave McCormick and Larry Everett - these were done by Dave.

And HERE he is - Dave McCormick, showing off his skills at the Museum Open House.

This is one of the reliefs I had on display. This West Coast native design is from a pattern in "Step by Step Woodcarving" by Allan and Gill Bridgewater. I love the bold colors on the plain wood.

Andre Breau does some beautiful relief work and had many carvings on display. He runs courses which are very well presented. Andre is a very precise carver.

Brian Davis is very good at carving birds - so good that he gives courses from his house. In this display you can see the progressive development of carving a Cardinal at the top left.

The clock on the top was done by an expert Chip Carver in our Club, "Bazz". Bazz has achieved this skill in a very short period of time and is now taking up relief carving and caricature carving. What's next for this very friendly and talented carver.
