[1.1] Locations

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

There are six buddies in the North and five in the South. Certain buddies are
always tied to a predetermined map.

Their locations are as follows:

...North...

Includes: Marty**, Warren, Michelle, Josip, Paul, Flora, Quarbani

1,2,3: Automatically found after the tutorial

4: Plane Crash ( http://img117.imageshack.us/img117/5997/crashbuddyft6.png  )

5,6: Slaughter house, Lumber yard, Fresh fish, or "Rooster" fights. This is
dependent on where you started the game so the locations will be different for
certain people. You can rule out the location you started in, and the location
where you rescued your first buddy for the tutorial.

...South...

Includes: Marty**, Xianyong, Andre, Frank, Nasreen, Hakim

1,2,3: Automatic after initial missions

4: Brewery

5: Sediko (Look for a building with a ladder that leads to the top)

**Marty can appear in either map depending on who you choose to play as. He
has no side missions available at the bar.

===============================================================================

[1.2] Buddy Missions

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Completing all side missions can be a little tricky. The bar holds a maximum
of four buddies, so with six buddies in the North, two will not be present. In
order to access their missions you will have to kill at least one of your
buddies. Your rescue buddy doesn't appear in the bar but you can juggle
histories a bit (keep getting them to save you) and then when you take a main
mission your rescue buddy should be bumped up to best buddy if he/she has the
highest history. Then kill a buddy whose missions you've done to make more
room in the bar. There are five buddies in the South so it's a little easier
but you still have to juggle around the rescue buddy.

There are 12 buddy subversions (listed in statistics as x/12 Buddy Side
Missions). You will be able to complete six in either map. Completing them
nets you upgrades to your safe houses: health, explosives, ammo, fuel and
 vehicle weapon upgrades.

===============================================================================

[2] Side Missions

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
===============================================================================

[2.1] Arms Dealer

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Completing these missions unlocks new weapons to purchase on the computers
found in weapon stores. Once purchased you will have an unlimited amount
 of that weapon appear in the armoury (building close to the store). Once you
complete a set number of missions the Arms dealer will disappear but he will
 later return in the Southern map. To purchase everything available will cost
one thousand diamonds, the exact amount available in the game.

Be sure to purchase the appropriate ammo, reliability and accuracy manuals to
make the most of your weapons.

You will notice crates in the armoury and in your safe houses that state you
must purchase them in order to use them. These essentially allow you to store
a specific weapon in them and then be able to access them anywhere where a
crate is found. Their condition remains the same, so be sure to renew them.

===============================================================================

[2.2] Underground

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Underground missions are triggered by story missions and their appearance
means that you should take them ASAP to avoid running out of pills. There
is still a margin of error so that if you push it you’ll pass out and reappear
in the church/clinic. If there is no Underground mission available you will
 have infinite pills for that time and will still have to take them at regular
intervals. There are two missions per map.

When you unlock an Underground location the missions can also be taken from
here if it happens to be closer. You can also use the hammock to save/ fast
 forward time even before they are unlocked.

===============================================================================

[2.3] Cell Tower

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

There are six in each map, rewarding you with 10 diamonds in Act 1 and 15 in
Act 2 for each hit. Assassination targets are made clear in that they are the
only characters wearing suits. Make sure you receive your diamonds after each
mission, as there have been reports of players not being paid and therefore
missing out on certain achievements.

===============================================================================

[2.4] Bonus

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

By entering one of the codes (see Cheats page) you will unlock six missions.
I believe all codes unlock the same thing (including ones that state they only
unlock four) but enter a few to be sure. I would assume you would need to
enter the code prior to starting a game but I have not confirmed this.

When you enter Pala you will receive a phone call telling you that your
predecessor has left messages behind at a specific location. At points
throughout the game you will see on your map an envelope icon. Go to the
 location and pick up the envelope, then check your map. A white marker
indicates the location where you need to retrieve a predecessor tape.

There are three in the Northern map. When you go South you will receive
another call upon entering Sefapane or Port Selao (I forgot which it is) which
provides the location where envelopes must now be found. When all six tapes
are found you will receive another call (go to Port Selao to trigger it),
leading to the discovery of a seventh tape.

===============================================================================

[3] Collectibles
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
===============================================================================

[3.1] Jackal Tapes

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

There are a total of 17 Jackal tapes. The first one is given to you by Reuben,
leaving 16 to be found. They are scattered evenly across the map, with any
given region only holding one tape or none.

When you have found enough tapes Reuben can be found at the bar
(true of either map). Initially I believe you will need to have a handful
but towards the end he seems to reappear even if you only have
one tape to return.

===============================================================================

[3.2] Diamonds

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

There are exactly one thousand diamonds in the game, a combination of payment
and those discovered. 221 diamond cases are available to be discovered. 112 of
these are in the North, 4 in the Central Desert and the rest in the South.

To pinpoint a diamond location, use the GPS. The green light will flash if you
are near a case. It will flash faster as you get closer and will turn solid if
you are facing it (this doesn’t mean you’re on top of it). When it’s solid
walk in that direction until you hear a distinct beeping sound – this means
 you’re really close. Face the briefcase from the front and interact to
retrieve its contents.

***The GPS can also be used to track Jackal and Predecessor tapes, but they
will not beep.***

Some diamonds will require platforming, use of a hang glider or some other
trick. A fair share are in plain view but be prepared to think creatively
for a select few.

===============================================================================

[3.3] Golden AKs

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

These weapons can be found hidden in the map. They’re exactly as the name
suggests and offer extended reliability (last longer before they jam or
break down). A weapons crate can be used if you wish to hold onto it.

===============================================================================

[4] Point of No Return

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
===============================================================================

[4.1] Side Missions

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Side missions must be completed before you move beyond the last available
faction mission for either Act 1 or 2. If you plan on completing all side
missions in the game, it's best to deal with most or all of them earlier on. There
are 22/40 side missions in the Northern map, or 20 if Marty happens to be one
of your Act 1 buddies.

===============================================================================

[4.2] End Game

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

If you wish to keep a save file with everything unlocked and the world open
to exploration you must do so before a crucial point as the game does not
allow you to return once the game concludes. This point is before you enter
the prison under your own will. Remember this moment, you’ll know it when
 it comes. Save before you actually enter the prison though.

===============================================================================

[5] General

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
===============================================================================

[5.1] Guard Posts

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Guard posts cannot be cleared definitely, enemies will respawn if you leave
that part of the map and return. Guard posts are marked by a soldier icon
but by locking onto their main supply (ammo, health, explosives, fuel) with
the monocular or physically approaching them you will be able to scout that
guard post and identify what they have in stock and have it marked
on your map.

When travelling it is not required to go straight through a guard post- feel
free to sneak pass, find an alternate path, go by foot or use the rivers.
Going on foot allows you to quickly hide from patrols that you may encounter.

The bus system is sparse but can be of help if used correctly. Always start
off a long journey with bus travel unless you can determine a safer or more
efficient route.

===============================================================================

[5.2] Faction Missions

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

There are a total of 12 main faction missions, with the remaining 21 making up
other story related events or faction tasks. There are six on each map and
three for each faction per map. When you are free to take one of these
missions you can choose between UFLL or APR. Whoever you choose, you will have
to do the full set of three rather than being able to switch to the
other faction in between. For these missions your best buddy will call you to
provide an (optional) additional task which sees you complete the faction's
objective, fulfil the buddy's needs and then save that buddy from danger.

===============================================================================

[6] Glitches and Bugs

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
===============================================================================

[6.1] Save Corruption

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This is a bug many have encountered where saves become unusable and freeze the
console. Hopefully Ubisoft will patch this bug but in the mean time you will
need to take some precautions.

The first act appears to be safe (no absolute guarantees), but certainly
beyond the halfway point I advise you undertake the following action. Do not
overwrite; create a new save every time so you have a back log to fall back
on. This will increase the loading time for the save menu but it’s a small
sacrifice. Delete older and unwanted saves via your system options.
Also, I cannot confirm it, but the Weapons store near the Marina Bar appears
to be the safest place to save. It might improve your chances but don’t
bet on it being a guarantee.

Also note that regardless of bugs you should always keep more than one save.
A number of people have saved themselves into a dead end.

===============================================================================

[6.2] Buddy Betrayl

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This is a glitch that occurs after you have beaten the game once and start
over. Your allies turn on you and if wounded cannot be healed. The fix seems
to be to delete all save data and to start completely fresh.

If you have too much to lose you can still push through. Avoid relying on
rescue buddies; just reload when you ‘die’. There are enough buddies to
subvert all missions if you choose to do so. The glitch will stop once you
reach Act 2 and receive different buddies.
